Malou Choa-Fagar, SVP and COO of TAPE Inc.—which produces Eat Bulaga!—celebrated her 51st birthday on November 15, at the Penthouse of the Imperial Palace Suite in Quezon City.
The "surprise party" was organized by the Wednesday Club—a group of people from the entertainment industry, mostly showbiz columnists and editors—including Regal matriarch Lily Monteverde, actor Ricky Davao, director Chito Roño, and GMA-7 executive Redgie Magno. The group regularly meets every Wednesday night at the Imperial Palace Suites, owned by Mother Lily.
Malou's actual birthday is November 12 and the lady producer opted to spend her special day—which fell on a Sunday—with her husband and their four sons.
Of course, the Wednesday Group was in full force during Malou's birthday celebration as well as most of the hosts of Eat Bulaga!—Keempee de Leon, Pia Guanio (sans boyfriend Vic Sotto who had his last shooting day for Enteng Kabisote 3), Pauleen Luna (sans rumored boyfriend Marvin Agustin), Julia Clarete (with husband Steven Uy), Cindy Kurleto, Sugar Mercado, Allan K, Teri Onor, Gladys Guevarra, Wally Bayola, Jose Manalo, and the Mr. Pogi winners.
TAPE Inc. big boss Tony Tuviera, who was sick that night, also came with his wife and his daughter, Celeste.
Other celebrities spotted that night were Christopher de Leon and wife Sandy Andolong, Ali Sotto, Armida Siguion Reyna, Gina Alajar, Roderick Paulate, Bibeth Orteza and husband Carlitos Siguion Reyna, Lotlot and Ian de Leon, LJ Reyes, Bobby Andrews and wife Bien, former child actor RR Herrera, Mai-Mai Davao, Manny Valera, Ruel Bayani, Dolor Guevarra, Boots Plata, Arnold Vegafria, Drs. Manny and Pie Calayan, and Roselle Monteverde-Teo.
ABS-CBN entertainment reporter Mario Dumaual and his cameraman were also present. GMA-7's S-Files sent a TV crew but no entertainment reporters from the network were present.
The celebrant and guests were treated with great music courtesy of a live band. But what made the night truly entertaining was the jamming of some of the stars with the band—including the three-month pregnant Julia who brought the house down with her renditions of "Can't Get No Satisfaction" and "I Will Survive."
Mother Lily was the life of the party as she gamely danced with guests every time a dance tune was played.
Two audio-visual presentations were also presented that night by the Wednesday Group to their esteemed member, Malou—one was a photo collage while another one contained greetings from her friends.
"I just want to grow old gracefully," Malou replied when asked about her birthday wish. "Feeling and looking young pa rin sana."
