The premiere night of Gigil, the launching movie of sexy actress Katrina Halili, was well attended by fellow artists such as Polo Ravales as well as real-life sweethearts Sandara Park and Joseph Bitangcol. The much talked about film had its premiere at Cinema 6 of SM Megamall last night, November 20.
Even Say Alonzo's former housemates during the first season of Pinoy Big Brother—Nene Tamayo, Rico Barrera, Jason Gainza, and Uma Khouny—took time out to show their support for their PBB batchmate.
Katrina described her debut film as: "Very light lang yung drama dito. Romantic-comedy to. Sexy lahat ng cast dito. Nakakatawa siya." The StarStruck 1 graduate also admitted that she was nervous about her first movie. "Kabado ako pero alam ko lahat ng tao mag-eenjoy sa panonood nito."
Former Pinoy Big Brother First Edition housemate Say expressed her happiness about being given the chance to work with the whole cast, particularly Katrina Halili. "I love them. Actually [si] Katrina, sobrang bait, sobrang down to earth. Hanggang ngayon, she is one of my closest friends in showbiz."
In Gigil, Katrina plays China, a woman who became cynical about true love after her homosexual boyfriend, Don (Boom Antonio), cancelled their wedding to be with their best man Sam (Gabb Drilon). With her friend Denoy (Say), China escapes for a vacation in the scenic island of Boracay. In this tropical paradise, they met a mysterious scuba diver named Felix (Alfred Vargas). Throughout the movie, Denoy and China try to find out whether Felix is straight or not.
Inside the theater, the audience kept on giggling and cheering during the "kilig" moments, especially those between Alfred and Katrina. After the movie, Katrina was all-smiles about her debut film. "Sobrang saya. Sobrang natuwa ako. Maganda yung nagawa namin at masaya ako. Kahit sino makapanood, mag-eenjoy talaga."
One of the most-awaited sequences of Gigil is the love scene between Alfred and FHM Philippines' Sexiest Woman for 2006. Katrina said of Alfred Vargas: "Sobrang gentleman ni Alfred, ok siya katrabaho. Tinutulungan niya ako, nagtulungan kaming dalawa. [He is a] professional."
Unfortunately, Alfred was not able to attend the premiere night since he is in Malaysia, currently shooting for his soap opera Muli.
