Davey Langit became the first scholar among the Top 10 Headmaster's List and the 11th overall to be expelled from the ABS-CBN reality talent search Pinoy Dream Academy (PDA). The singer-composer from Baguio got the lowest number of the combined text and online votes, 12.37%, among the four scholars under probation last week.
During the 11th expulsion night of PDA last Saturday, November 25, probationaries Yeng Constantino of Rizal, Ronnie Liang of Pampanga, and Rosita Bareng (tagged as ‘Nyora' by her fans—Nyoranians) of Dubai were all declared safe from being expelled—at least for that week.
It was also the same week that expulsion from PDA was made purely dependent on the viewers' votes through text and online. The PDA teachers and the scholars were no longer included in the voting process. The scholar who gets the lowest number of votes is automatically expelled.
The remaining scholars, including Davey, performed songs chosen for them by their love ones during the Gala Night last Saturday and were graded by the jury (composed of Hajji Alejandro, Agot Isidro, Mon David, Claire dela Fuente, and Rey Valera). The four scholars who got the lowest number of grades are under probation this week.
As announced by PDA Headmaster Jim Paredes last night, November 26, the scholars under probation this week are Irish Fullerton of USA, 8.28; Ronnie Liang, 8.22; Eman Abataya of Iloilo, 8.08; and Panky Trinidad of Cebu, 8.06.
Panky, who was the Star Scholar last week, got the lowest grade. This is her first time to be under probation.
Yeng Constantino, who composed the hit "Hawak Kamay" and the viewers' choice for PDA Christmas song "Pasko sa Pinas," got the highest grade from the jurors, 9.06, making her the Star Scholar of the Week.
The grades of the other scholars are as follows: Yvan Lambatan of Baguio, 9.02; Jay-R Siaboc of Cebu, 8.76; Rosita Bareng, 8.54; and Chad Peralta of Australia, 8.38.
Pinoy Dream Academy is shown nightly on ABS-CBN 2 and is hosted by Toni Gonzaga and Nikki Gil. The finals night of PDA will be held on December 16 at the Araneta Coliseum.
