Keempee de Leon and Manilyn Reynes play the lead roles in the "LRT" episode of Shake, Rattle and Roll 8. PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) interviewed the two stars last December 19 during their movie's premiere night at SM Megamall.
"Nakakatrabaho ko siya [Manilyn] before pa e. Pero sa big screen, na full-length movie, first time [ito]. Excited kami kasi first time kong gumawa ng serious horror," said Keempee about his team-up with Manilyn, who was once linked to him during their That's Entertainment days.
Manilyn, on the other hand, had this to say about working with Keempee: "It feels good. Happy kami working together. Mas mature na kami. We were able to adjust to scenes na kailangan naming gawin. Hindi na kailangan pang sabihin ng direktor nang sobra-sobra kung ano ang dapat pang gawin dito. We knew each other na, mas madali."
The Keempee-Manilyn tandem was one of the most popular team-ups in the ‘80s. They even became an item off-screen. Eventually, the two went separate ways. Manilyn is now married to former actor Aljon Jimenez while Keempee is happy being single.
To PEP's question about his love life, Kempee said, "Wala. Dahil sa sobrang busy ko sa work. Almost every day ang schedule ko. Right now, kanina pa akong 7am, nagte-taping na ako [for Bahay Mo Ba ‘To?]. Nag-Eat Bulaga! na ako, then back to taping. Eto premiere night [Shake, Rattle and Roll 8], then may a-attend-an pa akong Christmas party na dalawa. Wala akong time na lumabas talaga e. The last time I went out again was last Sunday with my cousins, nakapanood ako ulit ng sine. Nakapag-relax ako kahit papaano."
Keempee also added, "It's good to work. I love working. I love getting busy with work. Siyempre, minsan hahanapin ng katawan mo ‘yung magpapahinga ka nang konti. At least you work hard, then you relax, then you work again."
Shake, Rattle & Roll 8 is an official entry to the 2006 Metro Manila Film Festival.
