Actress Dina Bonnevie went through a deep depression before Christmas just thinking she had cancer. This was reported by ABS-CBN's primetime newscast, TV Patrol World, last night, December 26.
"I know I've been living a healthy life. I eat fruit, vegetables... I'm a health nut. I'm always in the gym. Parang hindi ko matanggap bakit ako magkakasakit. Importante rin pala ang pahinga. E ako naman kasi, I thought I was superwoman," Dina said in a taped interview.
According to the actress, she worried for a month because of the pains that she felt in her body.
"I was always tired, I was always in pain. Para akong nangangawit. Parang my spine was so weak," the actress said.
She added, "I thought I had cancer, something na ganoon. They tested the liver, kidney, heart, thyroid gland, intestines, stomach—lahat! It was just a case of a slipped disc." (This is a medical condition where the disc is prolapsed or herniated.)
The report said that Dina's body pains started after her trip to Italy for the actress's telecom business there.
"Siguro ‘yung pagkarga ng bagahe, up and down the train. And I walk a lot, like lakad to death!" the mother of Danica and Oyoboy Sotto said.
When Dina had her general check-up, the doctors found a cyst in her uterus. But after some tests, the doctors assured her that this was not cancerous.
This is not the first time the actress has been sick. In fact, she had to give up her role as the mother of Angel Locsin—the girlfriend of her son Oyoboy—in Mano Po 5: Gua Ai Di to Lorna Tolentino because she started to bleed.
"It was caused by this medicine I took that was supposed to radiate off extra fat. I was taking it, e yun pala this medicine requires rest," she explained.
