"Hindi naman po totoo ‘yon," Jodi Sta. Maria reacts to rumors that she is a battered wife. "Hindi naman po niya magagawa ‘yon."
Jodi has been married to Panfilo "Pampi" Lacson Jr.—son of Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson—for two years now. The two were wed in Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas, on March 27, 2005. Nine months later, their son Thirdie was born.
In an interview with The Buzz, Jodi denies rumors that she and Pampi have separated.
Jodi says, "Hindi po kami naghiwalay. Kung mayroon naman po kaming hindi pinagkakasunduan, as much as possible, pinag-uusapan po namin ‘yon. We're very much together."
The former Kampanerang Kuba star also denies rumors that she has moved back to her mother's house.
"Well, umuuwi po talaga ako sa Pasay para bisitahin ‘yong mommy ko, and ‘yong family ko po andoon," explains Jodi.
The actress admits that married life isn't always fine and dandy.
"Roller coaster siyempre. Hindi naman natin ine-expect na laging happy-happy. Para sa akin, adjustment," she says.
Jodi explains that being a married couple in showbiz is especially difficult because the public is watching all the time.
At one point, Jodi admits, Pampi thought about wading into the limelight and pursuing a career in politics like his controversial father.
"Magra-run po siya sana bilang konsehal ng Maynila," says Jodi. "Siyempre, pag kaming dalawa lang, pinag-uusapan namin. Siguro hindi pa po time. Kung tutuloy man siya, of course, susuportahan ko siya."
She ends with a message to her husband: "I would say siguro din na humihingi ako ng pasensiya kasi dahil artista ‘yong napangasawa niya. Medyo pag may lumalabas na intriga, siyempre nada-drag ‘yong name niya. Kung ano man ‘yong problema, kakayanin natin. Basta let's stay together."
