GMA-7 unleashes its new shows for 2007

Richard Gutierrez (left) stars in Lupin, while Dennis Trillo joins the star-studded cast of Super Twins. Both shows are set to premiere on GMA-7 this first quarter.

This new year, expect a barrage of new shows to be fielded by GMA-7 for the ratings-supremacy quest.

Isa-isa nang ipinapakita through teaser trailers ang mga pinakabagong handog ng Kapuso Network, with some of these either in the works na or newly acquired pa lang. Apat dito ay magpa-pilot ng February.

NEW SUNDAY SHOWS.

Four weeks per story ang itatagal ng Magic Kamison, with Nadine Samonte and Iwa Moto as the first guest stars.

Nananatiling panalo raw ang Sunday fairy-tale show against its competition at napakataas daw ng commercial load nito.

SUPER TWINS. Kapalit naman ng magtatapos this February 9 na Atlantika ay ang Super Twins, which is set to premiere on February 12.

Now the only fantasy series in production for GMA-7, malaki rin ang cast ng Super Twins—pero karamihan ay young stars this time. It will have Dennis Trillo bilang kambal na sina Eliseo at Eliazar, Jennylyn Mercado as Super S, and Nadine Samonte as Super T.

Magbibida rin dito sina Patrick Garcia, Camille Prats, Cristine Reyes, Bianca King, Melissa Avelino, and Gabby Eigenmann.

Also in the cast are Ian de Leon and Marian Rivera bilang mga magulang nina Sha-Sha at Tin-tin, Tanya Garcia bilang stepmother ng kambal, Tetchie Agbayani bilang ina ni Ian, at si Mura bilang primary villain na kanang-kamay ni Eliazar.

PRINCESS CHARMING. Re-opening the GMA Drama Sa Hapon is Princess Charming na magpa-pilot sa January 29.

Off-shoot ng popularity ng dalawang batang gumanap sa Bakekang—na sina Eunice Lagusad (Charming) and Jolina Reyes (Kristal)—the two kids are given their biggest breaks yet with these starring roles in an afternoon soap of their own.

Sharing equal billing with them will be Mark Herras bilang taga-alaga nina Princess at Charming at si Mylene Dizon bilang kontrabida naman. Also in the cast are Carmina Villarroel and Chanda Romero.

LUPIN. Lupin is the local and live-action version of the Japanese animé na ipinapalabas din noon sa GMA-7. Tungkol ito sa isang band of thieves, headed by Lupin, na nagnanakaw ng mga pinaka-importanteng artifacts and treasures around the world.

Makakasama ni Richard sa Lupin sina Rhian Ramos and Katrina Halili, among others.

MULI. In production na rin ang Muli, the Philippine-Malaysia co-production that stars Alfred Vargas and Miss Malaysia 2006 Carrie Lee.

Bandied as the next installment of Now and Forever, binusisi raw ng both Philippine and Malaysian sides ang paggawa ng soap kung kaya't inabot ng mahigit isang buwan ang local production team sa Malaysia. These days, nasa Pilipinas na ang taping ng Muli, with Mac Alejandre at the helm.

Bukod kina Alfred at Carrie, kasama rin sa cast sina Marian Rivera at Odette Khan from our side, at ang Malaysian matinee idol na si Daniel Tan.

L.U.V. POW. Pow. This is about three sisters with magical powers, na sina Camille Prats as Luisa, Rhian Ramos as Ursula, and Yasmien Kurdi as Vanessa.

Makakasama nila rito sina Rainier Castillo, the twins Dominic and Felix Rocco, and Viva artists Reb Sibal, Vince Saldana, and Ashley Gruenberg (younger sister ni Polo Ravales).

SINE-NOVELA.

Initially, four classic movies of Viva Films will be transported to the small screen. As of this writing, hindi pa alam kung ang magiging format ay once a week ba ito or five times a week, at gaano kahaba per story.

The first four stories will be Maricel Soriano's Saan Darating Ang Umaga, Sharon Cuneta's Dapat Ka Bang Mahalin, Vilma Santos and Lorna Tolentino's Sinasamba Kita, and Hilda Koronel's Kung Mahawi Man Ang Ulap.

Breaking news: Nabili na rin ng GMA-7 ang rights ng Mga Mata Ni Anghelita, which was popularized by the late child actress Julie Vega.
