Comedy bar sing-along master and comedian Chokoleit is not affected by the "hygiene issue" which sprouted from the controversial radio program Good Times hosted by DJ Mo.
John Lapus, who guested last December on the radio show, name-dropped Chokoleit as "the showbiz personality with the worst body odor and bad breath" in the "40 Forbidden Questions" portion of the program.
What started as a joke became an issue and snowballed until other artists, or those who had worked with Chokoleit, were supposed to have confirmed it.
But Chokoleit, being a comedian, just shrugged off the issue and even made fun of it. But actress-TV host Kris Aquino advised Chokoleit to consult his dentist, and he did.
"Nagkita kami ni Kris, sabi niya ‘Gawa ka ng paraan.' Sabi pa niya sa ‘kin, ‘Why don't you visit your dentist?' Sabi ko, ‘Sige, para mapatunayan na kung...' So wala naman talaga. At saka mga bading naman ang nagsalita nun, e kaya bina-bakla ko na rin yung ano," narrated Chokoleit during the Valentine party-cum-press con of ABS-CBN shows Love Spell, Your Song, and Pedro Penduko last Friday, January 26, held at the network's 9501 Restaurant.
And even though the issue was a personal tirade and rather below-the-belt—and to top it all was started by a friend—Chokoleit stated, quite nicely, that for him it was still just a joke.
"Joke lang ang tingin ko do'n. Joke lang. Hindi ko sineseryoso. Kahit na sina Direk Andoy [Ranay, the director of "Click na Click" episode of Love Spell], ganyan palagi ang loko nila sa akin. Niloloko nila na ‘Totoo ba talaga?' Sa totoo lang talaga, hindi ko talaga siya ma-take seriously. Hindi talaga. Maliban na lang kung bagong gising ako, malamang!" said a smiling Chokoleit.
Chokoleit plays the manager of Diether Ocampo in the "Click na Click" episode of Love Spell. The Kapamilya network's Valentine special also stars Kristine Hermosa, Precious Lara Quigaman, Eda Nolan, Joem Bascon, Pooh, Tim Espinosa, and Susan Africa.
