Actor Jomari Yllana has backed out from his candidacy for councilor of Parañaque City.
Jomari filed his certificate of candidacy last March 29, the last day of filing of candidacy for the local elections to be held on May 14, 2007. The sexy actor was even accompanied by his girlfriend, Concert Queen Pops Fernandez, and his younger brother, Ryan Yllana, who is also an actor.
According to GMA News, Jomari's decision stemmed from the request of his older brother, incumbent Parañaque Vice-Mayor Anjo Yllana, for him to withdraw his candidacy for councilor. If Jomari continues with his candidacy, he will clash with Anjo's partymates in the Lakas-NCD who will also run for councilor. Jomari would have run as an independent candidate.
Jomari heed his brother's request. He announced his withdrawal today.
In a phone interview with GMA News, Jomari said: "Ako po'y nag-isip ng mabuti sa desisyon ko. Ang gusto ko lang naman po ay makatulong. Marami naman pong paraan para makatulong. Lahat po ng aking plano, ng aking plataporma, puwede po namang ituloy at gawin kahit ako po'y taga-suporta lang ni Vice-Mayor Anjo Yllana."
