Aga Muhlach imparts his life's lessons to love-child Igi Boy

Aga Muhlach speaks as a father about Igi Boy (inset), his love child with former partner Janice de Belen, and about his present family.

"Unfortunately, he has a problem with his schooling talaga. You cannot do anything about it anymore. My son doesn't like school talaga.

"So, I'm just trying to... Nag-a-adjust kaming pareho. The boy didn't grow up with me.

"So, the best thing to do, I think, is to treat him like a friend para hindi mo na siya pinapagalitan parati. So now, I just hope and pray really that he finds what he wants to do with his life. If he wants to work, if he really doesn't want to study, you can't force the child.

"You know, I told him that he has to learn the hard way. ‘Nung una pa lang kung sinusunod mo ako, then it's all gonna be easy for you. But what you're doing is, you want to learn the hard way. So be it, because I will not really... if you think you're gonna get any financial [help] from me or even when I die, believe me, I will die pantay-pantay kayong magkakapatid. You will not get a single centavo from me, from your parents. Lahat ng aariin ninyo is kailangan ninyong pagtrabahuan.'"

FINANCIAL SUPPORT.

"But it's all really... kasi minsan parang hit-and-miss 'yan, e. Parang either you trust your son, you give him this. And then, kailangan sasabihin niya, ‘Pa, I'm, gonna do this, I'm gonna do that,' ganyan-ganyan. ‘O sige.' But you know, bata, e, nagbibinata. He's 20 or 21 years old."

That was Aga's same age nang kumakayod na siya bilang artista.

"Yeah, dumapa na ako noon," sabi niya. "Naghirap na ako't lahat. Dinanaanan ko na lahat 'yan. Sabi ko [kay Igi Boy], ‘If you want it that way, believe me, 'yan ang mangyayari sa ‘yo sa ginagawa mo na ‘yan. But there's nothing wrong.' Sabi ko, ‘In life, you are given all the choices. You want to be a bum, you can. But that's your life.' Choice mo ‘yan, e.

I don't want to embarrass my son. I can't talk about it. But, you know, he took it up [already] two years ago.

"Ngayon, 'yan ulit. Still, of course, as a father, okay. But really, believe me, magsisisi ka sa huli. But okay lang 'yan because kung gusto mong dumapa nang plakda, dadapa ka nang plakda, and then you'll learn it the hard way."

"Wala, he's quiet," sagot ni Aga. "‘Yes, Pa, yes Pa.' But he's really a nice boy. But you know, kung lumaki ‘to na kasama ako, kahit papa'no nabantayan ko.

"Wala, wala, wala," pagtanggi niya. "He stays with Janice. He's almost always there in the house. That's the time I get to talk to him. But sometimes, I get tired din of making sermon. So, minsan, you just let him be, ganyan.

"Kaya lang, I'm strict now. Like he asks for something, I say no. Ganun na lang, like kunyari he wants a car. ‘How can I give you a car, how can I follow what you want if you never follow what I want for you?'

"Kaya nga, in fairness naman sa amin ni Janice, and kay Janice din, I'll give it to her if Luigi asks something from me. I ask his Mom first. Kunyari lang, let's make this clear... for example, ‘Pa, I need five thousand pesos.' ‘For what?' ‘For ganyan, ganyan lang.' 'Janice, will I be giving him five thousand?'

Paano kung makabuntis si Igi Boy?

"Then, good luck," sabi ni Aga. "Wala na siyang magagawa dun pag nangyari ‘yon. But you know, nangyayari 'yon. And it's not too late for my son.

"He's a nice boy, really a nice boy. That's why I'm treating him right now as my buddy-buddy para maintindihanm ko talaga.

"Anyway, it's just a normal thing, you know. Like, meron ka sa mga anak mo... Like if I can afford it, let's say nag-college siya, nag-graduate siya, then he said, ‘Pa, can I have a car naman?'

CHARLENE & THE TWINS.

"After work, you don't see us sa mga events, sa mga gatherings. We have our own personal things to do like, we wakeboard together. We have our Batangas property that we've been developing for the last five years. So, we share the same passion on plants, ornamentals, sports, and with our children. Punung-puno kami ng ginagawa.

"We wake up early in the morning, then we talk until lunch time, just talking and talking. And before we sleep, we just talk. We always talk, we're always together.

"Like now, nag-i-inquire siya sa eskuwela habang nandito ako. So, after nito uuwi na agad ako. So, she's working on that now. You know, we're together again.

"Right now, you know, honestly, we're happy with our set-up now. No, wala pang plano. Eksakto lang. We have one each, so masusubaybayan namin sila talaga. And then, my children," pagtatapos ni Aga.
