The Traffic Management Group (TMG) recovered the stolen Honda CR-V vehicle of former actress Shirley Fuentes, according to a radio report earlier today.
The recovery of the SUV was made possible after the TMG, led by Chief Superintendent Perfecto Palad, arrested a suspected carjacker identified as Raymond Dominguez in the province of Bulacan.
According to the authorities, Dominguez was a suspected member of a notorious carjacking group doing the rounds of Bulacan and other nearby areas. Dominguez was driving a black Mazda 3 with plate number SAH-288 when authorities apprehended him along MacArthur Highway in the town of Marilao.
Aside from the stolen vehicles, the authorities also discovered six sachets of shabu, a cal. 40 pistol, a cal. 380 pistol plus a handheld radio in Dominguez's possession. The police also recovered some of Shirley's valuables, which includes a video camera.
It was reported that incidents of carjacking rose considerably in Bulacan since Shirley filed a formal complain to the local police. Other victims of Dominguez were identified as Rodolfo Flores, Alicia Roxas and Hilario Angeles.
It was on October 2 when the mestiza actress sought the assistance of the TMG after her vehicle was stolen by three unidentified armed men in front of her St. Francis village residence in Bulacan. The carjackers reportedly asked Shirley's driver, Ricardo Dignos, at gunpoint to alight from the vehicle. The men also beat up Shirley's helper, Ronaldo Bastado, before driving away with the stolen SUV.
"We hope itong pagkakaaresto ay mababawasan na ang halos araw-araw na carnapping na nangyayari sa Bulacan, more particularly in Meycauayan, Malolos, Marilao, and other surrounding municipalities," said TMG chief Palad while presenting the suspect in a press conference.
