Carlene Aguilar breaks her silence about encounter with Cristine Reyes

Beauty queen Carlene Aguilar, who has been tight-lipped since her reported confrontation with young actress Cristine Reyes on November 7 during the taping of All Star K in Broadway Centrum, broke her silence in an exclusive The Buzz interview with Boy Abunda, aired this afternoon, November 18.

In the one-on-one interview, Carlene spilt every ounce of her pent-up emotions—resentment, love, and hope. At first she thought that staying silent would calm down the issue. But instead it took up more and more power, leading to speculations on what she really whispered to Cristine during their encounter and prompting the latter to file a lawsuit.

For Carlene, everything was meant to be between herself, Cristine, and the man they are both involved with—matinee idol Dennis Trillo. But because of the media frenzy that Cristine and her sister Ara Mina whipped up, Carlene finally chose to go all-out publicly and explain her side.

At the start of the interview, Boy expressed wonder at why Carlene chose to break her silence. Was it because she could not bear the write-ups any longer?

"Kasi Tito Boy, it's too much," Carlene explanied. "Yung accusations toward me... I tried to keep mum but I can't stay that way any longer kasi alam kong wala akong ginagawang masama. Yung nanunugod ako, yung palengkera ako... Basta sobrang dami na."

"Umpisahan natin doon sa nanugod," Boy said.

The night before [November 6], I called her. In-invite ko siyang manood ng Beyonce concert. Sabi niya, may taping siya the next day. Sabi ko, ‘Sige, ‘pag nakakuha ako ng ticket idadaan ko sa taping and, at the same time, ibibigay ko na pasalubong ko.'"

THE ENCOUNTER. Carlene then went on to explain that before going to the Beyonce concert, she dropped by at the Broadway Centrum to see Jenny, only to find out that her friend was still rehearsing. Carlene decided to sit down and wait. That was when she saw Christine who was also a guest on All Star K.

"Honestly, Tito Boy, sa totoo lang, I wasn't too happy to see her [Cristine]," Carlene bluntly said. He denied na there's something going on between him and her. Ako naman, kampante ako. Kami nun, e, that time. Noong umalis ako, kami [ni Dennis]."

It was then when Carlene revealed that she wanted to meet Cristine in person since she found out something about her and Dennis when she was still in the States.

"I called her up and I asked her. Okay ang pag-uusap namin, our conversations were very cordial," Carlene said.

"When I was in the States, I think I called her up two times. Noong bumalik na ako, one time. So all in all, three times. So, nandoon na din ako [sa Broadway Centrum], so gusto ko na rin siya makilala."

Did she have a hunch that Dennis and Cristine were having an affair when she was still in the States?

Basta sinabi ko na meron kaming relasyon [ni Dennis] and we're trying to fix things. Kasi medyo nagiging kumplikado na yung relationship namin that time kasi maraming problema."

Back to the present. Carlene now recounts her story on what happened during that fateful day at the Broadway Centrum.

"Bigla ko siyang [Cristine] nakita sa dressing room, so I took the initiative to introduce myself to her. I shook her hand at sinabi ko pangalan ko.

When asked by Boy what she whispered to Cristine, Carlene said: "I do not want to elaborate on what I whispered to her kasi isang private thing din ‘yon, ‘tapos umalis na kami. That's the time na lumingon kami back."

Who shouted "pangit"?

"I don't know, I think it's her alalay or PA na katabi niya," replied Carlene.

Boy asked, "When you took the initiative of introducing yourself to Cristine, was the handshake friendly o sinaktan mo ba siya?"

"No, Tito Boy. It was a very warm handshake," Carlene answered, even demonstrating how she extended her arms to Cristine.

Boy asked whether it was something that Carlene said that maybe made Cristine angry or hurt.

"I don't think she cried, kasi noong binulong ko iyon, umalis na ako," Carlene said.

Does she hate Cristine? What is her feeling towards her?

"Actually Tito Boy, hindi, e. Wala, parang... Kasi Tito Boy, mahirap magsalita, e. Kasi parang pinapalabas talaga nila na sila yung nasaktan at napahiya. Parang sila pa yung kawawa. Hindi kasi nila alam kung ano yung whole story and ayoko sabihin. Kasi ang point dito, e, kaming tatlo lang dapat nakaalam: Dennis, Cristine and me."

"Ganito yun, Tito Boy. Malayo ako, mahirap at malungkot talaga."

THE CASE. What about the oral defamation and grave threats lawsuit filed by Cristine against her? What's her say on this?

"Siyempre nasasaktan," Carlene admitted. "In a way, nagtataka kung bakit kailangan pa niya gawin yun. Puwede naman kaming mag-usap. Kasi after nung kinausap ko si Dennis at sinabi ko na we will try to negotiate to the other party—na for a compromise, na ayoko na may media at ibang tao—kahit mag isa lang ako pupunta at kahit ilan pa sila.

At this stage, Boy told Carlene about the text messages she allegedly sent Cristine with contents not really suitable for kids. Did Carlene send those messages?

"Sana po kung maglalabas sila ng ganun, e, ilabas na nila lahat-lahat, at hindi yung pili lang," a defiant Carlene said.

Carlene also said that she thinks she did nothing wrong to Cristine, and it is actually Cristine who did her wrong.

"Hindi po naman siguro ako maiinis kung wala po siyang ginawa," the beauty queen said.

THE MAN IN THE MIDDLE. Now, where is Dennis Trillo in all of these? Is Carlene hoping to get support from him, even if Dennis tried to hide her condition a few months ago?

It's our choice [to go to the United States]. Hindi kagaya dun sa mga nasusulat na it was Popoy's [Caritativo, Dennis's manager] choice. It's not like that. It was our choice."

How is Dennis as a father to their Calix Andreas?

Dun sa ipinapakita niya, e, I admire him. We're still fixing it. Right now, ang concern namin talaga ay si Calix."

When asked if she and Dennis had talked about marriage during their five-year relationship, Carlene said: "Not formally. Wala pa sa isip ko noon."

One day, Boy said, Calix would be able to see the video interview and understand the situation his parents went through. Does Carlene have anything to say to him?

"Gusto kong sabihin na ginawa ko ang lahat para ipaglaban yung karapatan niya na magkaroon ng buong pamilya and mahal na mahal ko siya and mahal na mahal din siya ni Dennis," a teary-eyed but composed Carlene said.
