Iza Calzado has her own "film festival" as year 2007 ends

"Right now, I'm on a semi-break. I'm busy promoting them. We're also heavily promoting Batanes right now. I was on Showbiz Central yesterday. Kanina I did Sweet Life [on QTV-11]. So, alam mo 'yon. Heto na naman, back to reality," Iza shared to PEP about the showing of three films successively—Mona, Batanes, and Desperadas.

ON DOING MONA.

And mostly naman, nakita mo na most of them [shots] are indoors. 'Tapos, at that time also, I was doing Atlantika, 'tapos yung Shake, Rattle & Roll. I only had two days or three days to spare. Including na diyan yung paglipad ko or pagbalik.

"Guerrilla style talaga! Sobrang ito na yung pinaka-independent film talaga. Like, I really felt na yung how it is to try to do everything na...try to accomplish something with minimal equipment, you know like... Maliit lang talaga yung budget namin, so we were making the most of what we had. And in Singapore, talagang sobrang guerilla. Sobra!" excited na kuwento ni Iza.

Iza revealed how she tackled the role of a Pinay escort in Singapore in the said film.

"Simple lang lagi," sabi niya. "Parang, you always try to put yourself in the shoes of that person. And empathy, you start from that. You try to feel what you might be feeling at that time. So, lagi lang pong ganun.

Hello?... One after the other. And then sa December 5 is Batanes. December 25 is Desperadas. Sabi ko nga, ‘Hello? Kamusta naman.'"

Dagdag pa niya, "Hindi kaya magsawa yung mga tao? Hindi naman, sana. Iba-iba naman yung gagawin ko. Sobrang different. Pagdating sa Batanes, iba na naman din. Iba yung hitsura ko, yung role ko. Pagdating sa Desperadas, iba na naman."

Iza looks forward to doing more movies in 2008, especially now that she has just signed an exclusive three-year contract with GMA Films.

"I'm supposed to do a couple of films for GMA [Films] next year ‘cause I just signed with them. Some love story, one for sure. And then there's this parang semi-art film, not too commercial. More independent in nature, but then it's still with GMA Films.

"I'm always looking forward to those things kasi parang with those roles I can experiment. Like in Batanes and in this one [Mona], parang wala lang.
