PEP makes its Top List of underrated actors

Local showbiz has a good number of actors in movies andtelevision. Some of them, especiallythose who have been around for many years, are unknown to youngeraudiences. PEP now gives them fullattention.


Last year, two comediennes were surprised when they receivedan acting award from different award-giving bodies. They were Tiya Pusit and Eugene Domingo, bothveterans in local showbiz.

Tiya pusit made us laugh in several comedy films and mostrecently in her role as Tita Bella in the defunct TV sitcom Bahay MoBa ’To. She became part of severalmovies since the early ‘80s, mostly comedy.But it was only last year that Star Awards gave her the Best ComedyActress, which she shared with fellow comedienne Pokwang.

In her acceptance speech, Tiya Pusit quipped, “After 27years, ngayon lang ako nagka-trophy, gusto pang hiramin ni Pokwang. Buti nalang si Pokwang ang kahati ko. Plastik!”

Eugene Domingo is also a theater actress. She was thecomedienne who popped in jokes during serious moments in the movies Malikmata(2003), The Promise (2007), Paano Kita Iibigin (2007), and BahayKubo (2007).

The comedienne was the Best Supporting Actress for BahayKubo in the Metro Manila Film Festival last year. She said this recognition inspired her to doher job better. “Yung recognition is reallyvery important kasi mas nakaka-inspire, na tama pala yung ginagawa mo,” said Eugene.
