Gov. Vilma Santos doesn’t meddle in her son’s personal life

Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos doesn't let her busy schedule interfere with her duties as a wife to former senator Ralph Recto and sons Luis and Ryan. "I always make sure that I still have plenty of time para sa pamilya ko and I think I'm pretty successful naman when it comes to that," she says proudly.

Because Valentine's Day fell on a weekday (Thursday), Star for All Seasons and Batangas Governor Vilma Santos spent the special day working in her office and attending to the needs of her constituents, as usual.

"I was working," revealed Vilma earlier today, February 19, during her official launching as Ponstan SF's first ever celebrity endorser held at the Isla Ballroom of the Edsa Shangri-La Hotel in Mandaluyong City.

"Work day ‘yon, e, and kami naman nila Ralph, weekend nag-celebrate," she added.

But, of course, the spirit of love and sharing were not completely thrown out of the window. Making the most of the occasion, the Star for All Seasons found the sweetest moment to share her blessings to the people she's working with every single day.

Excitedly, she narrated, "You know what I did? Every department pinadalhan ko ng tsokolate. So lahat ng iba-ibang departamento pinadalhan ko ng mga chocolates and na-appreciate nila ‘yon. Parang a part of sharing the Valentine's, heart's day to you."

FORGETFUL LUIS. Despite her workload that day, it occurred to the multi-awarded actress that she hadn't received any greeting from her eldest son, Luis Manzano. Not that she would take it against Lucky (Luis's nickname), but still, Ate Vi felt slightly alarmed.

"Ako pa ang nag-text," Vilma recalled animatedly. "Uy, ‘di mo ko binabati, anak. Sabi ko sa kanya, ‘Anak you're not greeting..."

To which Lucky quickly replied: "Oh, yes mommy, I'm so sorry. Happy, happy Valentine's, mommy. I love you."

Making up for Luis's absence, however, was Ryan—Vilma's son with her husband, former senator Ralph Recto—who gave her a flower as a token of his love.

ABOUT ANGEL. Recently, Luis has been very vocal in saying that he and young actress Angel Locsin are very close and they constantly keep in touch. By Luis's tone, it's highly probable that the two might be taking a more romantic route, far from plain friendship.

Despite the distance and their busy schedules, Luis has always managed to consult his mom whenever personal issues hound him. That includes his love life.

"Yeah, we talked about that," affirmed Vilma to PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) after accommodating a few photo requests.

"Ang anak ko kasi ano, e, may time na nasaksaktan, may time na masaya siya. But as of the moment, I think he's happy. But I don't impose on anything. I don't meddle. Ayoko, ayokong makialam. Basta kung ano lang ang sasabihin niya sa ‘kin, ‘yon lang ang sasagutin ko."

She's also very consistent in reminding Luis to just take things easy and catch what life has to offer without being reckless.

"Basta isang bagay lang, sabi ko, 'Anak, tandaan mong sinabi ko sa ‘yo, sa eksperiyensiya ko, enjoy life now.' Kasi hindi na siya babalik diyan. 'Just enjoy life and be careful, kasi baka kung kailan may desisyon ka na, 'tapos may palpak, kawawa ka anak."

Vilma also confirmed the news that she gave Angel a handkerchief as a present. The reason, according to the Star for All Seasons, is a no brainer.

"Maybe because isa ito sa trademark ko," she reasoned. After a short pause, Vilma continued with a smile, "'Tsaka hindi naman basta-basta panyo. Sabi nga niya, idi-display naman niya."

That hanky must surely be pricey.
