A contract dispute is about to start between GMA Films and Gabby Concepcion.
Umalis sa Pilipinas si Gabby Concepcion 13 years ago under a cloud of controversy.
September 2007 nagkapirmahan ng contract between GMA Films and Gabby. Originally, it was supposed to be a love story tentatively titled Love Cruise and supposedly written by Gina Marissa Tagasa under the direction of Mark Reyes.
But Gina transferred to ABS-CBN and so a new writer was brought in—a writer from ABS-CBN na si Senedy Que. From a love story, naging comedy na ang movie with a new title, Holiday Off. More characters were infused in the story kung kaya't nadagdag sa mga bida sina Rufa Mae Quinto, Mark Herras, Rhian Ramos, and Eugene Domingo.
All set na ang lahat na pumunta ng Europe when they got word from Gabby that he cannot do the movie because of certain problems.
Itinuloy pa rin ng GMA Films ang movie now titled I.T.A.L.Y. Replacing Gabby is Dennis Trillo.
Pagbalik ni Gabby sa Pilipinas last Sunday, he personally announced that he is an exclusive Kapamilya and that his first movie will be for Star Cinema. Makakapareha niya rito ang nagbabalik-pelikula ring si Claudine Barretto at sa April 20 na ang scheduled first shooting day nila.
When asked kung ano ang mangyayari sa contract na pinirmahan niya with GMA Films, Mrs. Rose Flaminiano (ang tumatayong manager ni Gabby ngayon), explained in a separate interview na ang contract naman daw was for a movie na gagawin abroad. Since nasa Pilipinas si Gabby ngayon, it follows na puwede niya ngang gawin ang Star Cinema movie that seems to be a loophole in the GMA Films contract.
PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) contacted both Joey and Noel who are now in Europe, hoping they can at least give a way for us na ma-contact ang naiwan na producer ng GMA Films sa Pilipinas, si Ms. Annette Gozon-Abrogar.
Specific ang question namin sa kanila kung specified nga ba sa contract na pinirmahan ni Gabby for GMA Films that the movie is to be shot abroad.
We asked him about the specifics of Gabby's contract with GMA Films.
"The contract states that he can not work with any other production until he finishes his contract with us. I believe that he is an honorable man and that he will fulfill that commitment to us," saad ni Joey.
We also asked Joey kung may specific movie ba ang contract na pinirmahan ni Gabby.
"Wala, very formal lang ang contract. One movie deal," sagot niya.
Sumunod na nag-text si Noel na official statement naman ni Ms. Annette: "Our contract with him is for his first movie to be shown in the Philippines. And we have a provision that he can't work with any other production until he finishes his contract with us."
"None, kapatid," aniya.
