Former Pinoy Big Brother teen housemate Fred Payawan joins fellow Kapamilya talents Mikee Lee and Sam Concepcion in the Saturday afternoon youth-oriented show of TV5 entitled Lipgloss.
Fred will play the role of Jiggo, brother of the character Jake who's played by Rodjun Cruz. "Siya [Jake] 'yong heartthrob ng school. Kapag mayroon ka na kapatid na heartthrob, nasasapawan ka," Fred further explained after the press conference of Lipgloss last night, August 13, at Cucina Guagua on Sgt. Esquerra Street, Quezon City.
The 19-year-old actor told PEP that he asked for the ABS-CBN's permission before he agreed to appear on TV5.
"Currently I'm not doing anything right now sa ABS-CBN," Fred explained. "So, ito 'yong opportunity, you know, so grab on it habang wala akong ginagawa. And it's a good show."
Unlike his character in Lipgloss, Fred said that he never felt envious of his other former housemates, like Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson, who get more projects in their mother network.
"Ganun talaga, e," he reasoned. "'Life is a box of chocolates', nakukuha sila palagi. And, you know, siguro kasi mas malakas ang demand sa kanila. Kami, hindi ganun kalakas."
Despite this, Fred is hoping that someday he and other housemates like Mikee would be given a chance to shine and prove their worth in show business.
"Hopefully, sana lumakas naman kami ni Mikee. In a way, pagbubutihin na lang namin 'yong craft namin and do whatever it takes to get into that level. I hope we get in that level."
In line with this, Fred was also positive that Lipgloss would hit their target audience even though they are in the same block as Startalk and Entertainment Live!
"I think maghi-hit ito kasi sa first episode, maganda. And we had really good reviews sa mga study groups namin and sa mga demographics naming 13-17, so, swak na swak, e," said Fred.
Fred Payawan is now on his second year at the De La Salle University taking up Marketing Management. Also, he is a member of the school's dragon boat team, where co-actor Kevin Lapeña (who plays Edge in the show) is also a member.
