TV Ratings (Sept. 5-8): "Asero" topples "Dyesebel" for No. 1; "Betty La Fea" debuts at No. 5

The heavy rains in Metro Manila last night, September 8,stranded thousands of commuters and there were also reported cases of brownoutsin some areas. Also affected by the heavy downpour was the ratings game among primetime shows, most of which showed considerable decline in their numbers.

And for the first time since its debut last April 28,Dyesebel slipped to second place as Codename: Asero zoomed to No. 1. RichardGutierrez's action-adventure series got 33 percent against the 32.4 percent ofDingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera's fantaserye.

ABS-CBN's new primetime series, I Love Betty La Fea, debuted last night at No. 5 with 23.9 percent; behind 24 Oras' 27 percent andAko Si Kim Samsoon's 25 percent. Betty La Fea's fifth-place finish is thehighest among Kapamilya shows.

Occupying the sixth to ninth spots are ABS-CBN shows Iisa PaLamang (23.1 percent), TV Patrol World (20.6 percent), Pinoy Dream Academy(19.8 percent), and Dyosa (18.9). Completing the Top 10 is GMA-7 Koreanovela MyHusband's Woman.

In the daytime race, Eat Bulaga once again led allprograms with 22.1 percent. Gaano Kadalas ang Minsan came in second with 20percent while Wowowee was in third with 19.7 percent.

Occupying the fourth and fifth spots are Una Kang NagingAkin and Marimar, respectively.

Betty La Fea is the first of two new ABS-CBN shows that will premiere this week; the other one is the Koreanovela Three Dads With OneMommy, which will debut tonight, September 9.

These two new shows replaced The Singing Bee and My Girl,which both ended last Friday, September 5. The Singing Bee finished at No. 4with 32.2 percent while My Girl ended its run at No. 6 with 28.8 percent.

Dyesebel grabbed the top spot with 41.8 percent; followed byCodename: Asero (34.7 percent) and Ako Si Kim Samsoon (34.6 percent). 24 Oraswasat No. 5 with 29.9 percent.

Eat Bulaga also topped the daytime race with 22.2 percentwhile Marimar and Wowowee tied at second place with identical 18.6 percentratings. Completing the Top 5 are El Cuerpo del Deseo, Daisy Siete, and GaanoKadalas ang Minsan.

Saturday daytime viewing also belonged to Eat Bulaga, which posted a rating of 25.5 percent, with Pinoy Records a far second with 19percent.

Wowowee and Wish Ko Lang tied for third place with 17.6percent; followed by Takeshi's Castle with 16.1 percent and That's My Doc with14 percent.

In the battle of Saturday showbiz talk shows, Startalkranked better against Entertainment Live, 13.9 percent versus 8.8 percent.

Bitoy's Funniest Videos ruled the primetime race with 31.5percent. Coming in second was Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho with 28 percent, while singingcompetitions Pinoy Dream Academy and Celebrity Duets, placed third and fourth, respectively.

Completing the Top 10 are Imbestigador, A Bettyful Life: TheMaking of I Love Betty La Fea, Maalaala Mo Kaya, Varga, XXX, and NutsEntertainment.

Meanwhile, SOP reclaimed the No. 1 spot from ASAP '08 inlast Sunday's (September 7) daytime race. SOP generated a rating of 18.9percent against ASAP ‘08's 15.5 percent.

Showbiz Central also regained the upper hand in the battleof Sunday showbiz talk shows as it beat rival The Buzz; 14 percent vs. 10.9percent.

Finally, Tok! Tok! Tok! Isang Milyon Pasok topped allprimetime programs with 29.7 percent; followed by Mel & Joey (28.5percent), Kap's Amazing Stories (27.9 percent), Pinoy Dream Academy (23.4percent), and All Star K (22.4 percent).
