Rommel and Robin Padilla have reacted quite well to their brother's decision to "kill" Rustom Padilla and be reborn as BB Gandanghari.
But before that, Robin first told Startalk how he prepared for his much-awaited GMA-7 primetime drama Totoy Bato.
"Yung [Joaquin] Bordado, may kasamang diet yun, e," said Robin, referring to his last show. Kailangan tingnan yung timbang. Masasabi kong mas mahirap ito kasi mabigat."
Aside from changing his weight, Robin also had to trek up Mt. Pulag as part of his training. Yun, inakyat namin yun. 9,900 feet above sea level."
Now that he has a new show coming out, will Robin's daughter Queenie join in as well?
"Hindi pa, nagmi-meeting pa kami. Titingnan pa namin," said Robin.
FAMILY TIES. Because of his rigid training Robin said he wasn't able to join his family in Australia for the holidays.
Although Robin wasn't able to be with his wife Liezel and their children, he was at least able to enjoy his holidays with his brothers and his mom.
"Wala nga lang si Binibining Gandanghari," quipped Robin, referring to brother Rustom Padilla. "Wala, nasa Amerika siya noon. Absent siya noon. Ang kasama lang namin, e, kaming magkakapatid."
Last week on Startalk, BB Gandanghari was formally introduced to the public. With BB in all her glory, she said that "Rustom's not here. Rustom is dead, in the same manner that the past is dead."
With that quote, Rommel and Robin can't help but comment on their brother's words.
"Nagulat ako doon, ano," said Rommel. And then, ipasok natin si BB. Ganoon na lang."
As BB's brothers, what do Rommel and Robin now feel?
"Bilang lalake ano, ipinanganak tayong pare-parehong lalake," said Rommel. Pero sa nangyari ngayon sa buhay niya, e, I'm still very proud of him...or her.
It has been said that their mom Eva Carino Padilla has also accepted BB's decision on coming out.
Rommel and Robin have yet to see their "sister" in the flesh, but Rommel said to Startalk that he has already spoken to BB.
"Nagkausap na kami," he said. "'O, BB!
Although the Padilla family is all-out in supporting their "sister," they have but one request to make of BB.
And, uh, keep it up. Live, laugh, and love. Kahit BB Gandanghari, e, Padilla pa rin. Padilla pa rin."
