Angelica Panganiban and Anne Curtis proudly show their "original skin"

For the past few days, the entertainment press was kept guessing about the identity of the new endorsers of the Swiss-made brand of watches, Swatch. Yesterday, January 28, Anne Curtis and Angelica Panganiban were introduced, at last, as the spokespersons of Original Skin, the thinnest model released with a thickness of only 3.9 mm.

Is Swatch going for a sexy image now that the company has chosen Angelica and Anne as endorsers?

"Kami ni Angel, we're confident about how we compose ourselves," says Anne. "It could be a factor...it adds sa personality namin and at the same time, may playful side kami. That could be a factor dahil sexy naman itong si Angel."

Angelica agreed with Anne. "It's really a part of it siyempre at malaking factor na siyempre kaming dalawa yung halos nagpapakita ng skin and fino-flaunt namin kung ano yung meron kami and we're proud of it. Original lahat!"

Did they show a lot of skin in their print campaign? "What you see is what you get!" teased Anne.

The tarpaulin set up in Annabel's restaurant on T. Morato Ave., Quezon City showed Anne and Angelica facing each other while covering their breasts only with their hands. Their wrists were adorned with two Swatch watches. The bottom of the advertisement had a silver apple with a silver watch draped around it.

According to Mrs. Virgie Ramos, the entrepreneur who owns distribution rights to Swatch watches in the Philippines, the concept of the ad is to show two Eves flaunting their natural skin.

If they do a TV commercial, are they willing to show even more skin?

"Puwede naman. Kaya ko, kaya mo ba?" Angelica asked her co-endorser Anne, eliciting laughter and applause from the press people.

Can Anne match the daring sexy poses that Angelica is known for? "Alam mo, we can be daring but at the same time, we know our limitations. I guess, in a way, we're compatible in that sense."

SWITCH TO SWATCH. Anne used to be an endorser of Watch Republic. When asked about this, she told the media, "I'm now part of the Swatch family. I did switch to Swatch, if you must say. There's no bad blood naman po. Everything was put down on the proper manner and right now, I'm just honored and happy to be part of the Swatch family because kung nakikita n'yo naman yung past endorsers, it is really a privilege to be considered an endorser."

Past endorsers include Mikee Cojuangco (the first Swatch girl), Rachel Alejandro, Lea Salonga, Pops Fernandez, Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, and Geneva Cruz.

THANKS TO BILLY. It was Billy's idea to have Anne and Angelica as the new faces of the Swiss line of watches. PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked Billy to recall how he came up with the idea.

"We all talked about it and I just told Mama [Mrs. Virgie Ramos] that Anne and Angelica are two of the most beautiful ladies in the industry right now," said Billy.

"Last June, Mama Virgie was just thinking of [new endorsers] and she's always open to suggestions, especially from sa amin ni Direk Rowell [Santiago]. Alam na alam namin ang gusto ni Tita Virgie taste-wise para maging international rin ang look.

"Marami rin akong sinuggest pero sinabi ko kay Tita Virgie, hindi ka magkakamali if you choose these two [Anne and Angelica]."

How did Anne and Angelica express their gratitude to Billy? "Hindi pa ko bino-blow out niyan!" said Billy. At that moment, Anne passed by and answered the question herself by putting her arm around Billy's shoulders, saying, "Ganito lang yan, thanks! Thanks!"

According to Mrs. Virgie Ramos, who owns distribution rights to Swatch watches in the Philippines, Angelica and Anne may be introduced as endorsers in other Asian countries if their media campaign does really well.
