Bea Alonzo enjoys singlehood, but admits she misses being in a relationship

"I don't set qualities. Basta may spark, naramdaman ko na ito 'yon," said Bea Alonzo when asked about the qualities she looks for in a man.

After almost two years of being single, Bea Alonzo is still not searching for a new love.

"Hindi hinahayaan ng time ko [na makapaghanap]!" she said in jest during the media junket for her upcoming movie And I Love You So, held yesterday, July 27, at the ABS-CBN compound in Quezon City.

The 21-year-old actress said that she's not pressuring herself from finding a new lover. "Hindi naman ako afraid to fall in love. Siguro more careful, kasi dala-dala ko na 'yong mga natutunan ko from my past relationships. Wala lang talagang binibigay, hindi lang talaga binibigay sa akin," Bea explained.

One other reason she's not looking for a new boyfriend is: "masyado ko ring na-miss 'yong single life."

She added, "Ngayon, I get to spend more time with my friends na hindi ko na nagawa during the one and a half years na kaming dalawa [ni Mico Palanca]. I'm happy. I get to have lunch with my friends every after ASAP. Dati hindi ko nagagawa 'yon. My brothers stay with me na sa bahay, so alam mo 'yon, hindi na ako nag-iisa sa bahay. I don't feel as alone as before."

But still, Bea admitted that there are things in a relationship that she misses.

"Una, siyempre, 'yong pagsasabihan mo na ganito ang nangyari sa 'yo buong araw, [tatanungin ka kung] 'kumain ka na ba?' At saka 'yong mga friends ko sa ASAP, di ba ang daming couples? Kaya mas maaga akong umaalis. Kasi kapag [malalim] na ang gabi, sila yung mga sweet na, nagbaba-bye lang ako bago pa umabot sa pagkakataon na 'yon," she related.

Despite this, Bea said that she just lets fate give the right man for her. She also said she's not looking for specific qualities in a guy.

"Basta may spark, naramdaman ko na ito 'yon. Naniniwala pa rin talaga ako na may nakatakda sa 'yo. I believe in destiny," she stated.

ON HER PARTNERSHIP WITH JOHN LLOYD CRUZ. The young actress veered away from questions about her former on-screen partner John Lloyd Cruz being linked to Ruffa Gutierrez. Her only statement was: "Sila na ba? Si Ruffa? Hindi ko alam."

When asked if there was a time that she and John Lloyd became attracted to each other during the height of their loveteam, Bea laughed and said, "Ewan ko sa kanya, hindi niya ako type!"

According to Bea, she loves John Lloyd—as screen partner.

She explained, "Kay John Lloyd, siguro there was a time na in-entertain ko 'yong thought na, 'Ano kaya kami?' Siyempre, kasi nape-pressure na rin sa lahat ng sinasabi ng tao na, 'Sana kayo. Bagay kayo.' Siyempre, bilang bata noong time na 'yon, in-entertain ko kasi bata ako, wala akong boyfriend. 'Yon lang ang mundo ko, e. Hindi ako nakakalabas, wala akong kaibigan."

But that thought just stopped there. Bea said she never expected John Lloyd to really make a move in pursuing her.

"I never did," she said. "Alam kong walang ganun, hindi niya gagawin. At saka hindi ko rin naman inisip na magiging kami kasi wala talaga kaming things in common. I mean, we're definitely very different people, the way we deal with things. At saka malabo, e, malabo talaga kaming dalawa kasi magkaiba kami nang [pananaw] sa bagay-bagay."
