Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. confessed heaving a sigh of relief when he learned of the Supreme Court decision allowing celebrities who are running in the 2010 elections to continue appearing on television or in the movies without the previous threat of disqualification.
"I am a positive thinker kasi, although kinakabahan ako deep inside me... Kaya nung ni-reverse ng Supreme Court 'yong decision, para akong tumama sa lotto," Bong said in a press conference held today, December 10, at Enchanted Kingdom in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
The gathering was staged to promote Bong's entry in this year's Metro Manila Film Festival, Ang Panday, a joint venture of GMA Films and Imus Productions, Inc.
Bong's concern was of course understandable considering that production went on for almost a year. It also took Bong seven years before he earned the approval of the late action great Fernando Poe Jr. for him to portray the legendary Filipino hero.
"Ito 'yong hinabilin niya [FPJ] sa akin bago siya mamatay," revealed Bong. "'Tapos every time na sasali ako ng festival... Di ba, ang dami ko nang nagawa? Lagi kong nararamdaman, parang may kulang, hindi pa ako nakakatupad sa pangako ko."
The story behind the acquisition of the classic film franchise prompted Bong and director Mac Alejandre to label the project as a "tribute to the legacy of FPJ."
COMMENDING PRC. Bong also commended the recent ruling issued by the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) revoking the medical license of cosmetic surgeon Hayden Kho.
Hayden gained notoriety following the proliferation of his sex videos with various women, including sexy actress Katrina Halili. Bong was personally approached by Katrina for assistance and the actor-politician publicly condemned Hayden, along with the recommendation of filing legal charges.
The PRC stripped Hayden of his medical license last month, describing Kho's practice of documenting his sexual trysts as "immoral, dishonorable, and unethical in the practice of medicine."
Bong, for his part, applauded the verdict, saying that the PRC did the right thing, "Para magsilbing aral ito sa lahat ng doktor para hindi siya pamarisan."
