Sid Lucero is grateful because right after his portrayal of Red Ramirez in Dahil May Isang Ikaw, he's immediately given another TV project, an afternoon soap opera Magkano ang Iyong Dangal?
The son of multi-awarded actor Mark Gil said that having a project one after the other makes him feel like he's doing his job right.
"Super happy, I love it. I feel like I'm really working now, I'm doing it now. I feel like I'm doing something. Before, 'yon ang pinaka-ano, parang bakit gano'n there's always a break. Ngayon, I'm very happy and very grateful talaga, as in I don't know how to say it," he tells the media people during a set visit in Marikina River Banks last week.
He also mentions that the pace of his showbiz career right now makes his parents, Mark and actress Bing Pimentel, proud of him.
"They seem very proud," said the young Eigenmann. I was with my mom recently and then she's talking about how good I was. My dad naman was like, 'Bakit ako wala? Gusto ko rin ng trabaho,' jokingly lang siyempre. But in the inside, 'No, it's good. It's your time.'"
DIFFERENT ROLE. His character in Dahil May Isang Ikaw was recently killed, and so far, he's been getting positive reviews for pulling off Red's character very well.
But in Magkano ang Iyong Dangal, Sid revealsthat his role is a little different.
"Love triangle din pero iba ang personality ng characters. Magkaiba talaga, e...This one, sa Dahil May Isang Ikaw, medyo pinagdiinan ang point na parang he's always under the shadow of his brother [played by Jericho Rosales]. Lagi siyang kino-compare so nagkaroon siya ng parang [inferiority] complex to the point na parang towards the middle, medyo nagwala-wala siya.
"This one [Magkano ang Iyong Dangal], this guy has always been good from the very beginning," he explains.
He adds, "Basically the show, it tackles how far one could go in the name of love for someone else. It's how far will you go to take your dangal just to do good or how bad can you be to do good."
STILL HAS A LOT TO LEARN. Since his acting debut in 2004, Sid has already received a number of acting awards. However, the grandson of veteran actors Rosemari Gil and Eddie Mesa does not yet consider himself a good actor.
He's still in a learning process. In fact, during his first day with the show's director, Chito Roño, he realized that his knowledge as far as his craft is concerned is still scarce.
"First day ko pa lang ang dami ko nang natutunan. Parang feeling ko, wala akong natutunan sa five years," Sid recalls. "Parang nagda-dialogue ako, sabi ko, 'Ni minsan hindi ako nag-ganito-ganyan...E, lagi akong nagvo-vocals before the taping, sabi niya, 'Ni minsan, hindi mo nagawa nang tama ang linya na 'yan.' Pero nakita pa siya kaya alam kong okay pa yun. Hindi pa yun, marami pa yun..."
So even if he already earned recognition for his acting, he promised not to let it get into his head.
"Ayaw kong lumaki ang ulo ko. Marami akong kaibigan diyan whose job is to keep me on the ground," he said.
