This early, showbiz writers are predicting that Pilipinas Got Talent finalist Markki Stroem is headed for a strong showbiz career.
They say the Fil-Norwegian crooner is made for showbiz. Markki is tall, good-looking, and has the singing voice to make girls swoon.
The 23-year-old reality show finalist, however, prefers not to immediately become an actor. In a press conference for Pilipinas Got Talent last June 9 at the Dolphy Theater in ABS-CBN, Quezon City, Markki told PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) that he wants to first pursue a career in music.
"Gusto ko pong mag-singer, but I'm not closing any doors [to acting]. To start with po, I wanna focus on something with a musical brand in a sense because that's what I came back for," Markki said.
Markki grew up in the Philippines, but moved to Switzerland to study Marketing at the Glion Institute of Higher Education. After his graduation, he came back to the country to pursue a career in music.
Since Markki is of mixed blood, comparisons to musician-actor Sam Milby is inevitable. Markki, however, prefers to be his own person.
"Si Sam Milby is a very great inspiration to me," he said. "He's also very humble. A great singer and he's very talented guy. It's nice the comparison people make, pero I would like to be myself, my own person. I don't wanna be labeled as second Sam Milby. I want to live myself as a different individual."
LEADING LADY. Since he's not "closing any doors" to showbiz, PEP asked Markki who his ideal leading lady is.
He picked Angelica Panganiban.
"I enjoy the dubious side of myself. So, si kontrabida Angelica Panganiban.... Amazing. I like kontrabidas because they're capable of acting any role," he said.
Is he prepared to go against Derek Ramsay, Angelica's boyfriend?
"We'll see," Markki answered.
