Mariel Rodriguez just nodded to her talent manager Boy Abunda when asked for a confirmation if it was really her longtime boyfriend Zanjoe Marudo who broke up with her.
In the second part of her exclusive interview in SNN which was aired last night, June 17, Mariel indirectly answered the breakup question by saying, "With the other one [her college boyfriend], I was the one who broke up with him. This one [with Zanjoe] is different, it wasn't exactly my decision."
ROBIN PADILLA. Boy Abunda did not elaborate further on the topic. Instead, he jumped on the current rumor about Mariel being linked to action star Robin Padilla. It may be recalled that few weeks ago, the actor temporarily acted as a host in Wowowee while its main host, Willie Revillame, is on indefinite leave.
Boy asked Mariel, "From reliable sources, I have it na Robin likes you. Nagpaparamdam ba si Robin Padilla, nagpapahiwatig ba na siya ay interesado kay Mariel?"
The actress-TV host just replied, "Sometimes."
The 25-year-old TV host also admitted that she's excited because she and Robin will have a sitcom, Palibhasa Sikat, together in ABS-CBN.
But when Boy asked if Robin makes her smile, Mariel started stuttering, "Lets just say... Tito Boy, I think... I think there's a reason why he's a ladies' man. Kasi, grabe talaga 'yong charm niya."
She also got a bit panicky when her talent manager started asking about a party where they were spotted together.
"No, that wasn't a date, it was a party," she explained.
Boy followed up with this question: "It was a party na dumating kayo magkasama?"
Mariel then repeatedly replied, "No, of course not! Of course not. No, of course not."
Mariel also become reluctant when asked if Robin would have chance if he started courting her.
"I think, I think, 'wag... Lahat, they're all just too advanced. People are jumping to conclusions right away. People are parang masyado silang nangunguna na may ganito, na may something.
"May ganun or parang it's not nice, na yun na nga, yeah, if you make me [say] yes. Okay, nasaan na yung challenge dun? Or if I say na no, I don't like, then hindi na rin maganda yun kasi I'm closing my door," she said.
The Entertainment Live host also clarified that there's nothing really going on between her and Robin.
"There's nothing naman kasi talaga," she stressed. "It's just that people kasi parang nalagay na sa mga utak nila na meron. So, dahil sa kanila parang..."
Before the interview ended, Boy repeated his previous question, "'Pag nanligaw ba si Robin Padilla, may pag-asa ba siya sa iyo?"
But instead of giving an answer, Mariel just smiled in front of the camera.
