Kris Aquino's marital woes prevented her from joining a charity activity last Tuesday, June 22, revealed good friend and fellow talk show host Boy Abunda.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Boy openly admitted that Kris and her cager husband James Yap have yet to resolve their differences.
Kris's Twitter entry on June 16 divulged that the back-breaking pace of the presidential campaign affected her relationship with the B-Meg Derby Ace swingman.
The controversial talk show host ardently supported the candidacy of her brother, Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III, by joining the nationwide campaign trail that stretched on for months.
But while all the effort paid great dividends in the end—with Noynoy being proclaimed as President-elect on June 9—a "big misunderstanding" between Kris and James threatens to split the marriage anew.
"They are not okay yet. So, dito tayo nanggagaling. So, kagabi, 'yong narinig ko na nagkaroon ng problema na may kinalaman nga sa kanyang marriage ay hindi na ako nagtanong," said Boy, pertaining to the reason Kris was not able to join him in Cebu.
Kris was supposed to join Boy in distributing school supplies to the pupils of Don Vicente Rama Memorial School in Barangay Basak, Cebu City.
The endeavor was a promise made by Kris in Cebu City during the election campaign.
MORE SERIOUS THIS TIME. Kris and James's marital situation is not new when it comes to separation rumors and speculations. The couple almost separated in 2007 after it was reported that James was carrying an affair with an employee of a popular beauty cosmetic clinic. This year, the couple made headlines once again following a report that Kris confronted a female friend of her husband inside a subdivision.
Boy, however, mentioned that the latest marital spat looks more serious compared to past incidents, though he refused to elaborate.
"Itong nangyari ngayong araw na ito delivers to me a different message na may pinagdadaanang seryoso ang aking kaibigan," he said.
The talent manager-TV host went on to say that both Kris and James are trying their best to "save the marriage" and that they are still a couple despite the problem.
Those who are hoping to catch updates about Kris and her personal life would be disappointed to know that the loquacious television personality has cancelled her Twitter account to safeguard her family's limited privacy now that her brother is President-elect.
Kris will also bid goodbye to her two showbiz talk shows, The Buzz and SNN, this week.
