Giggerboys show their maturity as actors in Cinco

"We were not taken as Gigger Boys, we were taken as individuals. We don't know actually kung paano ang screening process, pero we're really happy na noong cam test, kami ang napili," says Robi Domingo (left) about being part of Star Cinema's Cinco. Co-Giggerboys members Sam Concepcion (middle) and AJ Perez (right) are also part of the cast.

"We want you to remember the movie and the story not our body."

This is what Sam Concepcion told PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other media when asked about their unusual stint in Star Cinema's new horror film Cinco during its costume party last week at Guilly's Island Restobar in Quezon City.

In "Braso," which is the first of five episodes in the movie, Giggerboys members Sam, AJ Perez, and Robi Domingo will play fraternity neophytes locked inside a morgue as part of their final initiation. Here, they will be seen wearing only underwear as offended spirits scare them away. (CLICK HERE to read related article)

Sam, 17, said they welcomed this challenge to show the public that they have somehow evolved as artists.

"Ako po talaga ang pinakakinabahan to do this because I haven't done anything like this before," he said. "We all grow as a person as an artist. The same thing with me, I'm not gonna be 13 forever. My kind of music sa first album. Even my album has evolved into something else. So, you know as an actor or as a person, I also evolved. If I think about it, I wouldn't be able to do things like this if I was 13 years old."

AJ, 17, said, "Nabigla talaga kami. At the same time, sa utak namin, it's a bold move. Sabi nga ni Direk [Frasco Mortiz], episode namin ang first episode ng movie. So, we need talaga to catch your attention 'til the end. Kami naman, bilang Giggerboys, bilang performers, entertainment actors, we took the initiative to accept what was given to us."

STILL TOGETHER AS A GROUP. Of the seven members of Giggerboys, only three of them were included in the cast of Cinco. However, 20-year-old Robi was quick to clarify that this does not mean their group has been disbanded.

"Hindi naman. Sana hindi," he said. "Before naman kasi we became Giggerboys, meron na kaming sari-sariling fans, e. Ginawa lang naman ang Giggerboys kasi they saw the potential in each of us na nakadagdag ng popularity ng group. 'Yon talaga ang parang naging basis namin [to form the group]."

AJ also assured fans that he and the other members of Giggerboys are still together and still hang out as a group despite their individual commitments. He even joked, "Nagkakasawaan na nga kami sa isa't isa. We know each other so well na."
