Jovit Baldivino hardly believes he already has own debut album

"Kung ano po talaga ang talent mo, dapat alagain po natin 'yon kasi pahiram lang po sa atin 'yon, e," says 16-year-old Pilipinas Got Talent grand winner Jovit Baldivino about taking care of his singing career.

Jovit Baldivino never thought he would win the grand prize in Pilipinas Got Talent. So, when he was declared the grand winner of the recently-concluded ABS-CBN talent show, the 16-year-old contestant was surprised to have bested the other 11 PGT finalists.

The newbie celebrity had the same feeling when he found out that Star Records, in cooperation with Sony Music Philippines, would be releasing his first recording album titled Faithfully.

"Masaya po kasi sa buong buhay ko po, ngayon lang po ako nagka-album tapos solo pa po. Hindi ko po akalain na magkaka-solo album ako," said Jovit during the media junket prepared for him and other PGT finalists last Thursday, July 15, at 9501 restaurant of ABS-CBN in Quezon City.

Jovit has also started appearing in Sunday musical-variety show ASAP XV and other ABS-CBN programs. The young singer is also scheduled to travel around the country with fellow PGT finalists Ezra band, Markki Stroem, and Sherwin Baguion. This nationwide tour called Pinoy You Got It will kick off on July 23 at the Cuneta Astodome. The concert tour is intended to promote Jovit's debut album and the album of the other finalists, also titled Pinoy You Got it.

"BORING" MANILA LIFE. Jovit admitted that his life started to change after winning the contest, like living in Manila. While city people may not be able to keep up with the fast pace of life in the Metro, Jovit finds it boring.

His usual invitations to sing in barangay fiestas in Batangas have also changed since he stayed in Manila. "'Yong kanta ko po, paisa-isa lang, minsan dalawa o tatlo. Kapag kakanta po ako sa Batangas, halimbawa, iimbitahan po ako, lahat po ng kanta ko [gagawin ko]," said Jovit.

Aside from singing, Jovit is also set to appear in Sarah Geronimo's upcoming musical-serye on ABS-CBN.

"Medyo po nabibigla ako kasi dati hindi ako umiiyak," Jovit said about his first acting attempt.

Then he said again, "Ibang-iba na talaga sa dati kong buhay."

NOT COPYING "KUYA ARNEL". Jovit's debut album includes his PGT audition piece "Faithfully."This was originally performed by American rock band Journey, whose current lead vocalist is Pinoy singer Arnel Pineda.

The young singer acknowledged his "Kuya Arnel" for being familiar with this song. Jovit said he started singing "Faithfully" when Arnel was just starting with Journey. The 42-year-old Pinoy singer was discovered by the band through his performance videos posted on YouTube.

"Kung hindi naman dahil kay Kuya Arnel, hindi ko rin naman makakanta ang 'Faithfully' kasi hindi ko siya kinakanta palagi," said Jovit.

Jovit also clarified that he's not imitating his Kuya Arnel. "Hindi ko naman po siya tutal na ginagaya. Parang idol ko lang siya," he said.
