Angel Locsin doesn't mind if it takes months before she gets another project. In fact, the 25-year-old actress just laughs off rumors that she is having financial problems because of lack of projects.
"Never naman akong nagkuwento about sa money. Pero siyempre, hindi naman ako naghihirap!" a laughing Angel said in an interview with PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other media at the Us Girls August Awards last night, August 19, at the Icon Bar of Intercontinental Hotel in Makati City.
The lead female star of ABS-CBN's upcoming primetime series Imortal also mentioned that aside from her showbiz career, she's also has other source of income, like her resto-bar Fuel Up.
She added, "Mayroon akong pinapagawang dalawang bahay, may bar ako... Para sa akin kasi, hindi ako nagyayabang or ano, parang hindi ako mayaman, pero okay pa naman. Paano ba, parang hindi naman ako tatanda nang hindi ko iniisip ang future ko. Kahit mawala man ako sa showbiz, I'm okay."
But Angel admitted that she feels bored when she's not doing any TV or movie project. Her last regular TV project was Only You with Diether Ocampo and Sam Milby last year.
"Naiinip ako, oo. Siyempre, lahat naman, di ba, ng nagtratrabaho, e. Hindi ako magpapaka-plastic, nainip ako. Pero buti na lang ang ABS-CBN, 'yong mga projects na ginagawa nila, maganda ang qualities. 'Yon lang ang iniisip ko na hindi ako magsisisi," she said.
Angel said that with Imortal and the upcoming movie with Aga Muhlach, it was really worth the wait.
"Sa totoo lang, every day ako nagtratrabaho ngayon because of Imortal and pelikula [with Aga Muhlach]. Ano 'yon, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for Imortal. Then, 'yon Tuesday and Thursday ko, nasa [movie with] Aga. And then, may mga commercials din. So, sobrang bihira din akong makaalis. Nagpapasalamat din ako kapag may pack-up [ng taping]. Ayaw ko rin namang mag-complain kasi ang tagal ko rin namang natengga and hindi rin ako sanay na natetengga, di ba?" Angel said.
STARSTRUCK BY JOHN LLOYD. Angel mentioned even before that she really wanted to work with three-time Box Office King John Lloyd Cruz. And her wish was granted when ABS-CBN paired them together in the upcoming primetime series Imortal.
Angel does not deny that she got starstruck by John Lloyd during their first taping days.
She recalled, "Bihira lang akong ma-starstruck talaga. Mahilig akong, 'Uy, idol ko 'to.' Pero 'yong tipong kaeksena ka 'tapos makakalimutan mo ang linya mo kasi pinapanood mo 'yong tao na napakagaling talaga, napaka-professional."
Angel has this to say about her leading man: "Marami akong natutunan sa kanya habang tumatagal, nagkakasama kami. Malalim na tao and fun. Ako, excited ako makita siya every week na magkatrabaho kami. Iba si John Lloyd, iba 'yong dedication niya. Masasabi ko na siya ang pinakamagaling sa generation natin."
DATING LUIS AGAIN? The press also took the opportunity to ask Angel if she has started to go out with ex-boyfriend Luis Manzano again. The former couple were reunited in a TV commercial, which Angel endorses.
Angel confirmed that she goes out with Luis, but she was tight-lipped about the real score between them.
"I'm happy, 'yon lang muna ang masasabi ko. Ayaw ko munang magmadali," she said.
But she clarified that despite the breakup of their romantic relationship, they don't have ill feelings towards each other.
"Ang sa amin naman kasi ni Luis, 'yong respect namin sa isa't isa. Siyempre, nandoon pa rin ang care namin sa isa't isa, hindi naman mawawala 'yon, e. Hindi naman mababago 'yon," the actress said.
But will there be a chance for them to get back together?
"Tingnan natin. Mahirap kasi, di ba? Kasi, noong nagkahiwalay kami, wala namang nagsalita kung ano ang mga dahilan. Mahirap i-explain sa mga tao. Pero ang importante naman ngayon is naging okay kami. Mahirap lang madaliin ang mga bagay-bagay lalo na ngayon na nagtratrabaho din siya, e. Pero wala naman akong dine-date na iba, hindi ko lang alam sa kanya," Angel said smiling.
