During the thanksgiving party of In Your Eyes last Thursday, August 26, at Annabel's restaurant on Tomas Morato, Quezon City, ex-flames Richard Gutierrez and Anne Curtis were asked if they were open to doing more mature roles in the future. The two had a daring love scene in the movie. So did Richard with their co-star Claudine Barretto. (CLICK HERE to see related story)
"Given the right project, the right leading lady, the right director, I think I would be able to do something like that again—or more," Richard responds confidently.
He adds, "Kami namang mga artista, we always want to pursue something different. As long as the script is good, as long as we trust the director, kahit anong eksena pa 'yan, basta maganda, gagawin namin. Dapat talaga bilang artista, walang limitation to your craft. So, ako, I like pushing myself forward. Pag may ganung mga eksena in the future, game pa din ako."
Anne says the same holds true for her. She says that, as an actress, she will do everything, even if it means stepping out of her comfort zone, as long as the script is good and she trusts the director.
Richard admits that watching the movie on the big screen, specifically the daring scenes, is a different experience.
"Nakakagulat na nasa big screenm tapos ginawa namin," says the 25-year-old movie and TV star. "Siguro, mixed emotions, na I was happy because we were able to execute that thing, and the same time a bit awkward because the whole family is watching. But, in totality I'm very happy [for] the movie. First time kong napanood yung pelikula. Matagal naming pinaghandaan yung pelikula. Pinaghirapan namin yung pelikula. Nakakatuwa kasi, si Direk Mac, kung ano yung na-visualize niya before kami nag-shoot, yun talaga yung na execute niya sa pelikula, e."
Anne says she was happy with how the controversial scenes looked on the big screen. "It was really tastefully done."
POSITIVE FEEDBACK. Both express gratitude to moviegoers who supported the movie.
Richard says, "Yes, we are all very happy with In Your Eyes, kaya nagpapasalamat kami sa lahat ng taong nanood, at nakakatuwa dahil maraming magagandang feedback, maraming good reviews, at maraming tao ang natuwa sa pelikula. We are very thankful, of course. I feel very blessed kasi parang tuloy-tuloy yung work ko. I was very happy."
Anne, for her part, quips, "I'm just so happy for all the fans and even non-fans. It makes me appreciate even more the hard work that I do."
ONE MORE TIME. There has been talk about the possibility of another movie where Richard and Anne would pair up.
GMA Films President Annette Gozon Abrogar mentions a movie titled Maybe This Time, where Richard and Anne are to play the lead roles, but scheduling difficulties got in the way.
"Maybe, it could push through next year, after the talks," says Ms. Abrogar.
Richard and Anne also hope for another project together.
"I think it is really possible na magka-project kami ulit ni Anne and ni Claudine dahil nga maganda ang working relationship ng GMA Films and Viva Films kaya hindi malayong mangyari. Kaya sana masundan ulit yung project namin," says Richard.
NO COMMENT. It was only when another topic came up that both kept mum. Anne refused to talk about the feud between their co-star Claudine and her co-ASAP star Angelica Panganiban. (CLICK HERE to see related story.)
Anne gave a safe reply: "No comment. They're both my friends, and they don't talk to me. And I'd rather not [comment]."
