Does the ABS-CBN's suspension of Cristy Fermin's contract mean that the network is intent on stopping unethical practices in showbiz?

"Sa isang mundo na puro kaplastikan at pagpapanggap ang namamayani, ang isang totoong manunulat ay hindi welcome," claimed Cristy Fermin in a PEP interview. She believes that she is following the dictates of true journalism.

The recent suspension of TV-radio host and entertainment columnist Cristy Fermin for her statements that "went beyond the bounds of decency" has the potential of creating a new face in entertainment reporting.

Powerful, popular and nanay-nanayan to some of the big stars in showbiz, Cristy Fermin, before the suspension, seemed invincible and had the license to dictate the flow and the image of entertainment programming. ABS-CBN slamming a two-month contract suspension slams that notion. If anything, the suspension could be construed as a public scolding of Cristy.

Has she overstepped her boundaries this time? Has she done a disservice to the profession for which she claims unique understanding?
