PEP EXCLUSIVE: Piero Vergara says he did not inform GMA-7 about joining ABS-CBN's Shout Out

"Everything that's happening to me is an opportunity and I take it happily," says former StarStruck V avenger Piero Vergara about being part of ABS-CBN's new teen variety show titled Shout Out.

Former StarStruck V Avenger Piero Vergara can now be seen on ABS-CBN's new teen variety show titled Shout Out. He was introduced yesterday, November 29, as part of the Tuesdeliciousgroup of the teen variety show.

In fact, when the pilot episode of the Kapamilya show was taped live yesterday in Studio 4, he was in the first row of the stage.

PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) had the chance to interview Piero briefly regarding his appearance in Shout Out, which airs Monday to Friday from 5 pm to 6 pm.

Did he talk with GMA-7 executives before transferring to rival station ABS-CBN?

"Wala namang formal na paalam," Piero admitted.

Did he sign a contract with ABS-CBN?

"As of now, wala pa naman. I hope there's gonna be one offered."

Piero added, "Alam na rin ng GMA-7 kasi a few days ago, may nagbalita. I have nothing to say talaga [except] I'm here now with ABS-CBN."

Didn't he sign a contract with GMA-7 after being part of StarStruck V?

"I signed it but my mom didn't coz she wanted to bring me home to Cebu."

In an article which appeared in PEP last March 11, it was reported that the StarStruck V stars—including Piero—signed a five-year exclusive contract with GMA Artist Center. (CLICK HERE to read related article.)

PEP has asked GMA Artist Center to comment on this issue but they have not sent their reply. Their response will be published in a separate story.

AUDITIONS FOR SHOUT OUT. Piero said that he and his family already went back to Cebu when he learned about the auditions for Shout Out.

"I auditioned for Shout Out about a month-and-a-half ago," he recalled.

"My mom wanted to bring me home to Cebu coz living in Manila is really expensive. Nahirapan na kami dito [sa Manila] so she brought me back to Cebu."

How did he learn about the auditions for Shout Out?

"I was going to school in Cebu tapos biglang nag-text ang manager ko, si Mario Colmenares, and he told me that there's gonna be an audition for this new hip, teen-oriented show. Sabi ko, that's nice, I want to go. Then they flew me in to Manila."

What lessons did he learn from StarStruck that are useful to him now?

"Be humble. Always enjoy your craft. Strive to improve. Never be late," said the 16-year-old teen star.

He also emphasized: "I learned, I really learned [punctuality] in StarStruck. Dati kasi medyo relaxed lang ako, pero ngayon wala na talaga. Traumatized talaga ako."

What's it like bonding with Kapamilya stars?

"They're fun. The people here are very creative, like in all stations, yung mga tao, creative. They're all very enthusiastic. Sobrang saya sa set. Lagi kaming tumatawa."

Piero also mentioned that he was trained by Star Magic even before he became part of the Kapuso network.

"Before GMA-7, I started in ABS-CBN. I started in Star Magic branch in Cebu. That was the first time I ever performed on stage."

When asked to name the Kapamilya star that he would like to work with in the future, Piero said with a smile, "Kim Chiu talaga. Kim Chiu is really pretty and type ko ang mga chinita."
