Three shows figured prominently during the Lenten season: GMA-7’s The Baker King and Dwarfina, and ABS-CBN’s Mara Clara.
These programs topped the primetime covering the period of April 19 to 25, except of course from Maundy Thursday to Black Saturday where regular programming was scrapped to give way to special programs and old movies.
Tagalog movies were the favorite watch during the Holy Week, with two Marian Rivera movies topping the Maundy Thursday and Black Friday programming—You To Me Are Everything (which paired her with real-life boyfriend Dingdong Dantes) and My Bestfriend’s Girlfriend (opposite Richard Gutierrez).
Senator Bong Revilla’s Ang Panday, meanwhile, ruled the Black Saturday programming, closely followed by the special Lenten drama Maestra which starred Denis Trillo, Rocco Nacino, and Agot Isidro.
