Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista supports Puerto Princesa’s bid for New 7 Wonders of Nature

Former actor and now Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista (left) pledged to support the Puerto Princesa Underground River as it competes to be included in the New 7 Wonders of Nature.

Mayor Herbert met up with Puerto Princesa Mayor Edward Hagedorn (right) yesterday, June 1, at the Quezon Memorial Circle Multipurpose Hall in Quezon City.

"This relationship will bring into fruition the immense benefits of people-to-people activities by way of friendly exchanges in diverse governmental, educational, cultural, scientific, civic as well as commercial endeavors," lahad ng kasunduan.

"The governments of Quezon and Puerto Princesa Cities share a common Green Cities Advocacy with the cause of preserving the environment.

"Both cities have made protecting the environment a priority, with Quezon City being the host of the biggest watershed in the country and Puerto Princesa City having rich natural and environmental resources."

NEW WORLD WONDER. New 7 Wonders of Nature list.

Itinuturing na epektibong advertising medium for tourism ang mapabilang sa New 7 Wonders of Nature.

Kuwento ni Mayor Hagedorn, "Ngayon pa lamang, for your information, nung bago kami nag-umpisa rito, nagbigay ng independence yung city [Puerto Princesa] from the province [Palawan], 2007 ’yan, e.

"Pero nung sumali kami dito sa New Wonders of Nature, alam ninyo ba ang tourism namin last year 425,000 from 200, 000?

"Ganun yung nilundag!

WUNDERGROUND EVENT. Plano ni Mayor Herbert na magpalabas ng mga advertising campaign sa mga sinehan around the Quezon City area para makatulong na mai-promote ang kampanya ng Puerto Princesa Underground River para mapabilang sa New 7 Wonders of Nature.

"Quezon City has the most number of theaters in the entire Philippines," pahayag ni Mayor Herbert.

"So, baka puwedeng gumawa tayo ng [ad campaign] explaining ano ba yung twin city relationship natin with them, tapos ipu-promote natin ang Puerto Princesa."
