Once and for all, Robin Padilla denied speculations that he violated Commission on Elections' (Comelec) rule that prohibits taking photos of an election ballot.
The Kapamilya actor-TV host took to Instagram to explain that he cannot practice his right to suffrage because of his conditional pardon status.
He wrote in the caption of his Facebook post tonight, May 10: “I am posting this letter from my lawyer to inform the public that I am not tolerating the present assassination of my character.
“My Honor is the only thing that I have in my life.
“Freedom was taken away from me since 1995.
“Presently, I am still in conditional pardon without any civil rights.”
To recall, the action star was sentenced to 21 years of imprisonment due to illegal possession of firearms back in 1995.
After serving several years at the Muntinlupa National Penitentiary, Robin was granted conditional pardon by Malacañang in 1998.
Robin's camp has earlier released an official statement from his legal counsel that he is legally barred from exercising his right to vote.
In light of his status, Robin stressed that it is unfair that he is plagued with wrongful accusations of election offense particularly in social media.
“And now 2016 elections came, me without any Voting Rights am being judged by some netizens for violating election rules while voting.
“If I did something to this effect I am calling the Comelec to arrest me and put me to jail if proven that I went to a precinct, voted and took pictures of an official ballot.
“If proven otherwise then the legal battle should start and make the guilty answer for their actions especially the bullying.”

In an earlier report, Aiza Seguerra publicly apologized to Robin for criticizing him about his election ballot photo without checking his facts first.
Robin's wife Mariel Rodriguez, in turn, was quick to defend him against netizens who jumped to conclusions about the action star's election ballot photo.
