Winwyn Marquez on being an actress: "I’m making a name for myself."

"There’s this certain level na kailangan kong pantayan," says Winwyn Marquez, referring to the successful showbiz careers of her parents, Joey Marquez and Alma Moreno.

"I’m making a name for myself," Winwyn Marquez tells PEP.ph (Philippines Entertainment Portal).

"There’s this certain level na kailangan kong pantayan," she adds, referring to the successful showbiz careers of her parents, Joey Marquez and Alma Moreno.

"My mom and dad succeeded talaga e. Like my mom parang sobrang legend na siya; everyone knows her. My dad is in comedy; everyone knows him.

"My mom has never been a kontrabida. Ano siya, more on the sensual side. Siguro ako, I just wanna make a mark na... ’yong mga hindi nagawa ng mommy ko, ’yon ang gagawin ko."

BLUSANG ITIM. Winwyn plays a kontrabida in Blusang Itim; this is her first major role.

"Oo, ’yong real acting na drama, ito talaga ’yong first!

"At first it was so scary, kasi siyempre hindi ko alam kung paano maging kontrabida, paano mang-away.

"Pero sa help nila Tita Jackie Lou [Blanco], Tita Rita [Avila], ’yong mga workshops, minsan pagnakaharap ako sa salamin tinitingnan ko ’yong facial expressions ko, kung ano ba.

"Pero sa set na talaga lumalabas e, pagkunwari eksena, do’n lumalabas ’yong sa ’kin."

Winwyn shares with PEP how she motivates herself to portray her kontrabida role in Blusang Itim.

"Siguro ’yong mga, mga nangyayari sa ’kin no’n. Like, especially when my parents separated, so ’di ba may galit?

"So do’n siguro, pero normally I just ano ’yon parang nag-i-internalize lang ako, like I step into Cleo’s [character in Blusang Itim] na lang parang gano’n."

In real life, is Winwyn like Cleo?

"Ay no! No, no, no, no, no," she stresses.

"Share ko lang, [nung] nag-audition ako. They wanted me to slap Kylie [Padilla]. Sabi ko talaga bluntly sa director ’Hindi po ako marunong mang-api. Hindi po ako nakikipag-away.’

"Sinabi ko talaga kasi I really can’t, ayoko manakit ng tao e.

"Winwyn, in real life, is so far away from Cleo; sobrang iba."

How did she get the role?

"Siguro ’yong ano, in fairness, slinap ko siya [Kylie], pero before I did that sinabi ko talaga ’Hindi po ako nananakit ng tao, hindi ko po kaya.’

"Siguro ’yong aking delivery of words.

"Ahm… edge ko kasi, I speak English. ’Yon, siguro ’yong maipagmamalaki ko, na I can speak fluently in English.

"Na medyo masakit na siya, ’yong salita, ’yon siguro ’yong pambawi ko na lang."

CAREER AND SCHOOL. Winwyn is on her last year in college in San Beda Alabang, taking up Marketing Management; she expects to graduate in March 2012.

She tries to balance acting and studying.

"It’s really, really hard kasi imagine, if we pack up at 7 [in the morning] and I have class on that day, medyo hassle.

"Pero if you really like what you’re doing, magagawan mo ng paraan e.

"If may exams or assignments, minsan dala ko siya sa set, alam nila [cast and crew of Blusang Itim] ’yon, nakikita nila ’yon," she said.

UPCOMING PROJECTS. After Blusang Itim, Winwyn will focus on school. She will still do Party Pilipinas and other GMA projects.

"Ahm… I have no idea yet kasi the danserye is there, so I’m not sure kung papasok ako or something kasi wala pa kaming napag-uusapan.

"So I’m gonna graduate in March already so I don’t know, let’s see if ano ang plano ng GMA management."

DREAM ROLES. Winwyn Marquez’s dream is to portray roles like Angelina Jolie’s.

"Ako kasi, kung ano ’yong mabigay sa ’kin, go ako.

"I’m not really picky. If it’s a nice role, I’d be glad to say yes. Pero given a chance, gusto ko kasi ’yong ano e, ahm… action.

"Kasi sporty ako e, I like physical things, pero kung ano ’yong maibigay sa ’kin, I’m game.

"Siguro parang Angelina Jolie, ’yong pwede kang mag-shift sa drama ’tas [’tapos] action ’tas [’tapos] minsan pwedeng comedy din, ’yong gano’n.

"Ano e, I wanna be versatile. I don’t wanna, I don’t wanna box myself in one character lang, para makita nila na I can do anything."
