Actress Ina Feleo confirmed that her paternal grandfather, Ben Feleo, passed away yesterday, September 21. He was 85 years old.
"Matagal na rin siyang may sakit," Ina told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in a phone interview this afternoon, September 22.
Ben Feleo was the father of actor Johnny Delgado, who died in 2009.
Ben started out in showbiz in the late '50s. He wrote comedy films such as Alabang Girls (1992) and Humanap ka ng Panget (1990).
He also directed Pitong Gamol (1991) and Ikaw ang Miss Universe ng Buhay Ko (1994).
When asked about the cause of her grandfather's death, Ina said, "I think old age, kasi 85 na rin siya at na bypass [operation] na siya dati."
She recalls, "Nung nawala si Daddy, na-depress siya at hindi na bumalik ang sigla niya. At least ngayon, magkasama na sila ni Daddy."
According to a report of ABS-CBN News, Ben Feleo died at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
His remains lie in state at the Marian Memorial Chapels along Marcos Highway in Marikina City.
