Despite the heavy rain and strong winds brought about by Typhoon Pedring, Ms. Lorna Tolentino agreed to push through with her scheduled interview with select members of the press last night, September 27, at the Heat restaurant, EDSA Shangri-La Hotel in Mandaluyong City.
Earlier that afternoon, she signed a one-year exclusive contract with TV5. Present during the contract signing were Ms. Lorna’s manager Lolit Solis, executive vice president and COO Roberto Barreiro, and TV5 CEO and president Rey Espinosa.
Why did Ms. Lorna decide to transfer from ABS-CBN to TV5?
"Kasi, Channel 2 offered me 85 working days for a year, then Channel 5 offered me 140 days of work for one year. Yun ang difference," she explained. "And they know naman, nagpaalam ako."
She then gave details about her guaranteed contract with the Kapatid Network. "Three shows yun since three months ang isang serye nila.
Did she find it difficult to switch networks?
Did she also consider the talent fee as the basis of her decision?
"No, it’s not really about that. It’s really the number of working days."
What is her basis for choosing one network over another?
"Kung saan ang mas makakabuti for me. Gustung-gusto ko magtrabaho with Channel 2.
"So, medyo mahirap. Kasi, ang two years ko na exclusive [contract with ABS-CBN], one soap and one movie lang ang nagawa ko instead of two soaps and two movies.
When asked if she felt bad that she was not given the projects that were stipulated in her contract, Ms. Lorna pointed out, "Tapos na yun.
MISSING THE CHANCE TO TOPBILL ROSARIO. Is it true that she was supposed to topbill the movie Rosario? "Oo," she revealed.
Maria [Rosario producer].
Why was she unable to accept the movie Rosario?
"Noong time na ginagawa ang Rosario, under contract pa ako noon. 2008 ako nag-sign hanggang 2010," she explained.
Ms. Lorna reveals that she deliberately did not watch Rosario when it was shown as one of the Metro Manila Film Fest entries in 2010.
She admits, "Hindi, kasi nga nanghinayang talaga ako kasi sayang...nawala."
GLAMOROSA. Lorna mentioned that she studied Motion Picture Language abroad but she does not have any plans of becoming a director.
She recalls, "After [studying], ginawa ko ang Pusong Mamon [her 1998 movie also known as Soft Hearts].
This 2011, Lorna will be reunited with Direk Eric for TV5’s upcoming TV series, Glamorosa.
She says that this medical drama will be about the world of cosmetic surgery.
This project will also give her a chance to be reunited with Alice Dixson, her co-star in the 1988 movie Nagbabagang Luha. Ms. Lorna reveals, "Alice is my assistant noong una, then magkakaroon siya ng sarili niyang [company]."
Their co-stars in Glamorosa include Zoren Legaspi, Tonton Gutierrez and Celeste Legaspi.
