Sam Concepcion says he’s more confident doing Peter Pan after the good reviews

Sam Concepcion on rave reviews for his performance in Peter Pan: "I’m very happy. Press and friends were the first ones to see it. So, we have more confidence to open the show tonight... to do better especially sa buying audience."

Last Wednesday, ginanap ang press night para sa musical play na Peter Pan: The Musical Adventure sa Meralco Theater.

After the show, tumanggap ng standing ovation ang buong cast from the press at ilang friends na unang nakapanood ng well-loved classic fairy tale.

Two months din daw na nag-prepare at nag-rehearse si Sam for his role as Peter Pan.

"We worked on it for about two months. Pero, yung flying scenes, two weeks before the show [ni-rehearse].

"It was the time na lumipat na kami sa Meralco Theater.

"We were trained pa by people from abroad. They came here to train us with the flying scenes. They flew in from Las Vegas."

Ang The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe daw ang una niyang sinalihang play.

His last was Noah.

When asked if he auditioned for the role of Peter Pan, "I think, they already had me in mind when they got the rights," sagot ni Sam.

"So, when they told me about it. I said yes, right away," patuloy pa niya.

"It’s a lot of fun to do. Especially, delivering a timeless story to the audience, and doing it over and over again is fun.

"And as a kid, I guess, we’re all fond of Peter Pan. We can all relate to his story."

JUST LIKE ME. In real life, may similarities daw sila ni Peter Pan.

"Yeah, I can relate. Siguro a lot of us can relate to Peter Pan who doesn’t want to grow-up.

"There’s always a child in [each of] us. There’s always a child in me who doesn’t want to grow up talaga.

"But I guess, it’s something I enjoy and will always be within me."

"I don’t know. There’s a part of me that wants to do it when I can, if I’m qualified."

After Peter Pan, posible bang mature and more daring roles naman ang gawin niya sa theater?

"Well, like I’ve said, if I’m qualified for the role.

"I believe, it has to be the role talaga. As long as it’s okay, why not?

"And I think, I’ll never get tired of performing in theater. It’s a passion for me."

Masaya raw si Sam sa mga nababasa at nakakarating na reviews sa naging performance ng buong cast lalo na during the press night.

"I’m very happy. The press and friends were the first ones to see it.

"So, we have more confidence to open the show tonight. To do better especially sa buying audience."

"Family and friends from theater were there.

"Yung mga friends ko sa ABS-[CBN], I think, they are watching sa mga susunod pang shows."

BUSY SAM. Bukod sa kanyang play, Sam is also busy promoting his latest album under Universal Records, ang Forever Young.

Right after din daw ng Peter Pan which will run for a month, he will start shooting for Regal Film’s Metro Manila Film Festival 2011 entry.
