Vice President Jejomar Binay still refuses to concede defeat in the presidential race despite wide disparity between his share of votes and leading presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.
In his interview with Balitanghali today, May 12, Binay maintained that he will wait for the official tally of the canvassing of votes before making a reaction to whoever wins the top post in the elections.
He said, “Let’s not use the word conceding.
“Basta my position is I will await the results of the completion of the electoral process.”
As it is, Binay’s camp previously questioned election-related irregularities including reports about malfunctioning vote counting machines and registered voters whose names were not listed in the polling precincts on election day.
Asked to comment on expected president-elect Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s call for “healing,” Binay evaded the question altogether.
“Hindi ko naman nagsasabing I’m not willing na mag-ano, e.
“We’re talking about the process. The healing is another thing,” Binay concluded.
At press time, Binay is fourth among the presidential candidates.
Second- and third-placers Mar Roxas and Grace Poe have already conceded to Duterte.
