Singer Gino Padilla admits being hesitant about allowing son Josh to enter showbiz

Gino Padilla on son Josh: "Talagang we kept him. We kept him away from the limelight. I just wanted him to be a regular kid, I just wanted him to concentrate on his studies, he’s in third year now in Ateneo, and I want him to just push through and focus."

Esguerra Cor. Eugenio Lopez St., Quezon City.

Ayon sa singer, "It’s always wonderful, it’s always an exciting project for me, kasi you’ll never know what’s gonna happen, e.

"I mean, it’s always a good thing we bonded before, and now we gonna bond.

"So, it’s more memories we gonna create, and plus ito yung mga songs na you know, we used to sing and used to hear over the radio. We get to perform it sa mga tao."

ON SON JOSH.

(CLICK HERE to read related article.)

"Talagang we kept him," sabi niya.

"We kept him away from the limelight.

"I just wanted him to be a regular kid, I just wanted him to concentrate in his studies—he’s in third year now in Ateneo—and I want him to just push through and focus.

"Sabi ko, the thing is somebody discovered him, which is Viva, and they offered him this Bagets character.

"It’s all too soon, you know, he has to do all of these stuffs. But, sabi nila, okey lang ’yan.

"He’s still learning, but the one thing that they like in him is he’s enjoying, ’I like the work, I like being in the limelight.’"

"He got to promise me that he’ll finish his studies, which he did—he promised me that he’ll finish his studies.

"The special reason is that I want him to be normal, not being involved in any issue, things that will hurt him.

"Sabi ko, ’Try to give your best all the time, and be nice to others because if they see you na you’re suplado, mayabang, they won’t like you.’"

PERFORMING WITH HIS SON.

Kuwento niya, "He told me, ’Papa, would it be nice you and me together on the same platform?’

"Kasi, I haven’t really tried it. I tried it once, pero it’s a family affair. He was playing [the guitar] and I was singing.

"So, that was it, ’yon na ang bonding namin.

"Pero I’m looking forward to it—doing something, a terrific number with him."

Ani Gino, "I told him, ’Okay, you know your life now—you’re a student—you know your responsibilities.’

"’If you say yes in becoming an actor and being involved in showbiz na, you have to be dedicated, you cannot be half-hearted because the only people who make a mark in this industry are the ones who are very dedicated.

"’So, try to enjoy yourself and also, try to polish your given craft may it be acting, singing or dancing, ’yon ang gawin mo, give your 100 percent.’"
