Cheska Iñigo keeps in touch with former Bagets co-stars; gears up for new TV5 soap

Cheska Iñigo on the differences in showbiz then and now: "To be honest, feeling ko mas mahirap nung panahon namin. "Only because, like I said, now the reality shows or the searches, part of the process is may lessons, may training.

"It was a very different system back then, di ba? Yun na nga, as I was saying we were very blessed in the

I Love You.

"Actually ongoing pa ang Bagets kasi season three na kami.

"Pero kasi ang Bagets now, the story is really more focused na on the kids.

"Unlike the first season na very involved pa kami, so there’s leeway naman to do this, tapos magte-taping pa rin for Bagets," sabi ni Cheska.

I Love You.

"Ah, they’re so lucky, these kids! Because they have all the tools at their hand," pansin ni Cheska.

"Time is so different than now—the system, the industry. It’s so different.

"Workshops, we did. When we did the Bagets movie, nag-workshop kami ng isang maigsi.

"Now the kids are so blessed, you know, there are workshops ongoing, minsan may coach pa sila kung talagang kailangan.

"So iyon yung sinasabi ko na in a way, the kids now, ang dami nilang tools at their hand to learn the craft, to improve their craft.

"Whereas kami dati very dependent kami... well, I dunno, I don’t know if it’s a good thing or a bad thing.

"For me it was a very good thing coz I had a great director.

"Si direk Maryo was an amazing teacher. And back then I guess there were less people involved in the learning process as compared to now."

"Korek! Kami dati iilan lang kami.

"So I guess now it’s a much more competitive field compared to when we were around.

"But I think also kasi there are many more avenues now open to people para maging artista kumpara nung panahon namin, di ba?

"So that contributes to it also. Marami tayong talent searches, marami tayong reality shows, soap operas," dagdag niya.

"I mean may mga shows din naman before, pero yung style ng pagkuha ng artista or pagpili ng artista nung panahon namin as compared to now was very different.

"To be honest, feeling ko mas mahirap nung panahon namin.

"Only because, like I said, now the reality shows or the searches, part of the process is may lessons, may training.

"It was a very different system back then, di ba?

"Yun na nga, as I was saying, we were very blessed in the sense that, me, I was very privileged to work with an amazing director, and Viva when we were starting out was very supportive also, just like they are now with the new kids."

BAGETS REVISITED.

P.S. I LOVE YOU. I Love You ng TV5.

"I play Gabby’s bestfriend and I’m also his lawyer.

"Mabait ako dito, and parang na-devote ko na yung life ko sa trabaho ko, sa kanya and sa anak niya, si AJ Muhlach, kasi inaanak ko," paliwanag niya.

"That’s actually why I like my character so much kasi napaka-pure nung character na parang, di ba, marami namang we hear stories like that?

"Na sa sobrang mahal nila yung trabaho niya, mahal nila yung yung amo nila or, in this case, bestfriend pa nga.

"Hindi na sila... nice way of putting it, nag-old maid na lang ata ako, parang ganun.

I Love You ay pinagbibidahan din nina Dina Bonnevie bilang si Kristine, Nadine Ilustre (as Candice), Kean Cipriano (as Jason), at Alex Gonzaga bilang si Andrea.

Kasami din sa cast sina Candy Pangilinan, Michael Flores, Jaycee Parker, Say Alonzo, Nikki Bacolod, Al Chris Galura, Sarah Polverini, with the special participation of Lloyd Samartino.

FROM AGA TO AJ.

Ayon din sa kanya, "And it’s so nice to see that si AJ, he is so willing to learn.

"So it’s so nice to see that he is so willing to learn. He really has an eagerness to learn.

"Magkasama kami sa Bagets [TV series], magkasama rin kami dito, nakikinig siya, talagang nagtatanong siya, very determined siya to improve his craft."

Mina-manage si Cheska ng Viva Artists Agency at two years ang contract niya dito.

THE ACTRESS AS ENTREPRENEUR.

"My sister [Djila Winebrenner] and I and another partner [Architect Ian Bautista], we have a resort in Boracay called The Lazy Dog Bed & Breakfast.

"It’s in the back in Bolabog, on Kite Beach. Sa likod from D’ Mall tatawid ka dun sa likod na beach sa kabila, we’re on the other side.

"It’s a fifteen bedrooms na bed and breakfast.

"Well, I was there in Boracay for almost four years setting it up, now my sister runs it, and our other business partner si Gianna, they run the resort.

"Yes! Alam naman nila, tulungan naman kami lahat. May mga things that we need from Manila.
