The contract-signing that took place yesterday, January 25, at the VIVA office in Ortigas, Pasig City, was Annabelle Rama’s way of taking a load off her shoulders.
She is still going to handle the movie and television projects of her children Ruffa, Richard, and Raymond.
But the endorsements are now under boss Vic del Rosario.
Annabelle talked about what led her to such a decision: "Wala nang nag-aasikaso sa endorsements ng mga anak ko kasi nahihiya talaga ako.
So sabi ko, teka, magtatanong muna ako.
According to her, three transactions did not materialize because "di magkasundo."
HOW THE PARTNERSHIP CAME ABOUT. In a meeting that Annabelle called "emergency, urgent," the top honcho of VIVA formally took the place of the late Douglas Quijano.
In June 2009 came the sudden death of Tito Dougs—the name by which the much-loved and respected talent manager was known in the biz.
Picking up from Annabelle, Boss Vic said: "Wala nang nag-take over...
"Yun ang reason that they’re signing the contract, and ah, basically, VIVA will act as the agent of the three Gutierrez [stars], so yun lang."
WHAT TO EXPECT. The move has broadened the horizons for Richard, who can now start looking forward to the possibility of working again with VIVA contract stars KC Concepcion and Anne Curtis.
He said a movie with Sarah Geronimo is also in the offing.
Annabelle’s co-manager also threw in, "Pagkatapos na siguro nung [movie ni Sarah] kay John Lloyd [Cruz].
As for Raymond, Richard’s twin brother, Boss Vic talked of plans to revive his acting career.
Richard’s twin, however, shook his head, "No way..."
The Showbiz Central host added, "If there’s a movie, I wanna do a horror para patay kaagad."
Raymond is also now involved in magazine work, as the lifestyle editor of Esquire Philippines, a Summit Media publication.
Ruffa, who had done movies with VIVA in the past, said she was very excited about working with Boss Vic again.
"I’m very happy to be part of their family. I’m looking forward to a lot more projects this 2012."
The time of signing was exactly 4:00 p.m.—which, according to Annabelle, was "suwerte sa feng shui!"
She also said she is positive her children are in good hands now.
Smiling, she said, "Happing-happy ako, at least naman, si Boss Vic, matagal ko na siyang kaibigan.
"Magkaibigan kami ni Boss Vic since dalaga pa ako kaya magkasundo kaming dalawa."
The press teased them.
It is said that the executive once courted the mother of Ruffa, Richard, and Raymond.
To this, Annabelle quipped, "Walang no strings attached."
