Former TGIS star Diego Castro does not want to lose mom June Keithley after losing dad Angelo Castro, Jr. to cancer

Diego Castro may be considered in hiatus until the offer of GMA-7 for him to appear in Kasalanan Bang Ibigin Ka? came along. This opportunity came at a time when he needed it most, he says: “Malaking tulong nga ang dumating na trabaho na ito para sa akin… Financially, it’s really a big help."

“The last time that I was on a TV show was also here in GMA-7, yung reality show na 30 Days in 2004,” pag-alala ni Diego nang makausap siya ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal).

“But before that, I was already working as a chef.

"I graduated with a Culinary Arts degree at the Center for Culinary Arts [CCA] and I was able to put up my own restaurant before, yung Sitio Diego.

“Now, I’m doing freelance chef consultancy.

“I also worked as a Recruitment Marketing & Communications Manager at PeopleSupport Inc."

Kuwento pa niya, “I decided to take a vacation from showbiz muna. I have four kids na that time.

“Wala namang ibang offers na dumarating for me that time, so I have to make a decent living for my family.

“I was doing okay because years na rin ang dumaan and I was living an ordinary life as an employee.

“But of course, I missed showbiz din. It’s in my blood.

"Alam ko na one day, I will be back doing what I use to do on television.”

SHOWBIZ EXPOSURE.

Nakasabayan niya sina Patrick Garcia, Marvin Agustin, Diether Ocampo, at Mylene Dizon.

MEDIA MOM AND DAD.

She was diagnosed with the sickness in 2009.

Ayon kay Diego, “Malaking tulong nga ang dumating na trabaho na ito para sa akin… financially, it’s really a big help.

“My dad just passed away two months ago at halos hindi pa kami nakaka-recover from it.

“Just a few days ago, we got her out of the hospital because she had her chemotherapy.”

MOM’S THERAPY.

“Kung kay Mommy lang, she doesn’t want to go through chemotherapy anymore.

“Pero for me, sabihin na nating selfish ako, I still want her to get chemotherapy. Hanggang kaya ko pa, I want to extend her life pa.

"She’s my mom and it’s my turn to take care of her.

“Kakawala lang ni Daddy, I still need her with me. I always tell her to not give up.

“Kailangan ko pa siya dito. My kids still needs their lola.

“I can sense naman that my mom listens to me. She knows how much we love her,” diin niya.

“My mom kasi was such a workaholic. Sanay siyang laging may ginagawa.

“But she can do so little now because she’s on her wheelchair.

“But she still writes her column. Yun nga lang, nakahiga siya using her iPad. She can’t sit for a long time kasi masakit sa likod niya.

“Even if I know that she’s in pain, my mom never complained. She would just pray and I know that everything will be alright for her.”

MOM, THE COMEDIENNE.

“There’s never a day that she wouldn’t make me laugh.

“Minsan tatawagin niya ako and she would say something about me that would really make me laugh.

“Yun naman ang maganda kay Mommy.

“Despite of what she’s going through right now, she still makes the people around her laugh.

“That’s why I am praying to God that she doesn’t lose hope.
