Gwendoline Ruais puts showbiz career on hold to fulfill Miss World Philippines duties

Gwendoline Ruais lost the Miss World title to Miss Venezuela by a single point in last year’s pageant. The Filipino-French beauty has no regrets: “In the end, okey lang naman kasi nakakuha pa rin naman ng korona and I’m very, very happy for the support of the Filipinos.”

Bukod sa June 24 coronation night na iho-host nina Ruffa Gutierrez at Edu Manzano, konting detalye na lang ang pwedeng mai-share ni Miss World 2011 1st Princess Gwendoline Ruais tungkol sa magaganap na Miss World Philippines pageant.

“Siyempre po, we’re keeping a lot of things a surprise kasi siyempre gusto nating iba-iba kasi ang mga pageants ngayon na hina-handle ng TV5.

“So, we’re very excited and we don’t want to give out too much information.

“And we’re very-very happy with our selection and we’re really looking forward to whatever TV5 has in store because it’s really great.”

“Siyempre po, me and my friends are here to mentor the girls.

“We’re here to help them, to train them and magkakaroon rin po ako ng workshop sa mga girls…

“To help them and give them advice and tips and share the experiences and all the lessons that I have learned, siyempre.

“We’re just going to be there sa lahat ng mga activities nila just to chaperone them…

“Give them advice and tips just to make sure na yung mananalo will be very well-trained, you know, and the coronation goes really well.”

PAGEANT FAVORITES.

“Of course, I mean, all the girls have potential, but you also have a few girls that you can see are standouts.

“Yung sa akin, ang official stand ng Miss World Philippines is you can speak in any language that you are most comfortable [in].

“They can provide an interpreter din naman gaya ng sa ibang mga pageants.

“If you are used to talking in your native tongue, okey lang naman ‘yan. The most important is the answer that comes from within.

“So, if they want to speak in Tagalog, puwede rin naman din.

“If they want to speak in their dialect, we will provide them with an interpreter.”

PULLS OUT FROM COMPETITION.

“Pero, it’s not up to me to decide po, or explain, yung side ng TV5 po.

“Napili naman po siya as official candidate. So, lahat po kami na mga judges, we chose her to be one of the 25 candidates.”

As for me and the rest of the candidates, we chose her as one of the 25.

“I think you have to have your priorities in life and right now I can’t really focus on my showbiz career…

“Because I have duties as Miss World Philippines and I’m representing our country and for me that’s the most important.

“As of now, since reigning pa rin ako, focus muna ako diyan.

“Nandoon pa rin po ako every Sunday and I still do Unang Hirit and Eat Bulaga, and other shows…

“Provided that it doesn’t interfere with my duties as Miss World Philippines.

“Siyempre po on the day ng Party Pilipinas, Miss World Philippines coronation night po yun, ang gagawin ko, e, yung Miss World.

“Alam naman po ng Party Pilipinas na first and foremost, I’m Miss World Philippines and they respect that, kaya walang problema sa GMA.”

AFTER-PAGEANT ACTIVITIES.

“Of course, we’ve talked about it a lot but like I’ve said, we will see what happens after my reign.

“Kasi right now, I can’t really move and make permanent decisions because Ms. World Philippines pa rin ako.

“And I have my duties, yun pa rin po ang focus ko and alam naman po ‘yan ng Viva.

“Nirerespeto naman nila yun and I’m very, very happy that I want to finish my duties first. Yun po ang priority ko.

“’Pag tapos na ang reign ko, that’s when I will know.”

“That depends on the individual person. So, evaluate po natin yung winner.

NO CONNECTION.

“Nag-sign ako for the first time in my life to a management company which is Viva.

“I’ve never signed with anyone before and Viva is the first entity I trust and I really believe in to manage me properly.

“So ang first management ko is Viva talaga.”

“Actually po during Bb. Pilipinas po, tumulong po ang Mercator. Pero as for Miss World Philippines, hindi po sila present dun.”

You can’t change anything now.

“What’s done is done. All you have to do is do you best. So, no regrets talaga ako.

“I guess, it’s a compliment din that the difference [in score] is just one point. Sayang din kasi one point lang.
