Lea Salonga and Eugene Domingo compete for Best Actress in BroadwayWorld Philippines Awards

Kapwa nominado sina Eugene Domingo (kaliwa) para sa Bona at Lea Salonga (kanan) para sa God of Carnage sa Best Actress in A Play sa BroadwayWorld Philippines Awards.


Buhay na buhay na talaga ulit ang teatro sa Pilipinas.

Kaliwa’t kanang theatrical productions ang kasalukuyang naghahanda para sa malakihang pagtatanghal nito sa iba’t ibang venues sa Metro Manila.

Kamakailan lamang ay pinagpiyestahan ng mga theater lovers ang pagsasadula ng pelikulang Bona; at umarangkada rin ang mga musical na Nine at Carmen nitong Oktubre.

Ngayong Nobyembre naman, magbubukas ang bagong adaptation ng Aladdin na pagbibidahan nina Tom Rodriguez, Aiza Seguerra, at baguhang singer na si K-La Rivera.

Sa November 16 na rin magbubukas ang pinag-uusapang Sayaw Ng Mga SENIORita. Pinagbibidahan ito ng mga direktor na sina Joel Lamangan, Soxy Topacio, at Manny Castañeda; kasama pa ang comedian-host na si Arnell Ignacio at si BB Gandanghari.

Lalo pang pinainit ang usapin sa teatro nang ianunsiyo na magkakaroon ng auditions ang Miss Saigon dito sa Pilipinas, sa November 19 to 22, para sa muling pagbubukas nito sa London.

Kaugnay ng mga kaganapang ito sa teatro ay may isang award-giving body na magbibigay-pugay sa mga pinakamahuhusay—ang BroadwayWorld Philippines Awards.

Kahapon, November 7, sa Facebook page ni Oliver Oliveros, isang Pinoy na nagtatrabaho sa BroadwayWorld New York, ay inanunsiyo ang mga nominado sa BroadwayWorld Philippines Awards.

Si Oliver ay dating PR manager ng Stages Productions at kasalukuyang regional site editor ng BroadwayWorld para sa Pilipinas.

May 25 na kategorya ang BroadwayWorld Philippines Awards na sumakop sa mga itinanghal na theater plays and musicals mula October 2011 hanggang September 2012.

Ang BroadwayWorld.com ay isang theater news website sa United States, United Kingdom, at 20 pang bansa.

Naghahanda na sila para sa BWW Awards na sabay-sabay na gaganapin sa lahat ng mga bansang kinasasaklawan nila, kasama na ang Pilipinas.

Nagsisimula na ngayon ang botohan para sa mga kategorya sa ibaba at tatakbo lang ito hanggang December 15.
