“I play Karen Linden, as Gabby said, we play parents to Julia.
“And as far as being of a mixed foreign and Pinoy blood kaya siguro kami kinuha… sosyal kami at mayaman.
“And of course, we protect our daughter and we want what’s best.
“And the fact that the movie is full of love and about love, we as parents have little subplots—we’re very loving with each other.
Gabby and I are like family to us.
“We did films… the Sharon films… Hirap At Ginhawa and then we’ve come to Bernal [the late Ishmael Bernal] time when we did Bilibid Boys.
“So, we’re very comfortable with each other.”
Aniya, “When he just arrived from the States, we insisted, we give him a bienvenida party in our house.
“So, it was a very exclusive party with the family and co-actors, co-friends.
“It was a very intimate party. So, pamilya namin talaga si Gabby… bro!”
COMMITMENTS.
“Yes, that’s why I said ‘yes’ to the movie!” mabilis na hirit ni Cherie.
“Of course, aside from the fact that I get to work with Gabby again.
“Plus the fact, of course, that I would be working again with Manny [Direk Manny Palo] and Gabby again, and my first with Star Cinema.
“It’s been a while since I’ve done my last mainstream film.”
“Yes, it’s a lucky year! I’ve been lucky!” bulalas niya.
THEATER.
“I put that aside for this year,” sagot niya.
“I’m supposed to do The Graduate but I put that on hold until the time is right.
“I think other things have presented itself this year.
“So, in terms of scheduling, there were other projects I think that would be given priority.
“’Coz right now, I’ve decided to put on the producer’s hat.
"So, we’ll see where that leads me for indie films.”
“We’ll… we’re starting off with a movie with Peque [Gallaga,].
“In fact, it’s in the works now with the Film Development Fund for the Samahang Sinehang Pambansa, slated in September.
“It’s another independent platform that’s backed up by the government and that would be my first.
“So, medyo may kaba na nang konti aside from acting in it.
“And then I, having stories with them. So, as far as that’s concerned, I cannot say so much more until hinog na hinog na.”
“I save that when I really, really… uhm… desperate."
Pero bawi niya, “No! No! I’m kidding. No, I would love to do it still.
“I’m looking forward to do it next year. Pero sa ngayon, I wanna tap on other projects.
“Maybe more on to the film, kasi nami-miss ko talaga ang film.”
STYLE.
I don’t know? But I think I’ve passed that stage.
“At this point in time, hindi na yata ako tatablan ng kahit ano.
“Pero sige, first-class ticket around the world and a million bucks—in dollars!” halakhak niyang kasunod sa punchline.
Pero pahabol niya, “No… but it would be nice to grow old with someone.
"But I’m not looking into that right now.
“I’m really trying to concentrate in making myself right with myself.
“So, sa naririnig ko sa mga bata, I understand what that feels.
“We all need to be inspired. You know, we pay the prize for it.
“But then again, it shouldn’t jade us. Love has to keep growing and make us stronger.
“That makes us all stronger, and as of now, I’m happy where I am at.
“And I still hope that one day, I will find a man who I can be with, laugh with.
“Pinakaimportante sa akin is to laugh on, have fun and enjoy life together.”
VALENTINE’S DATE. May ka-date ba si Cherie this Valentine’s?
“Well, I’ve never been with a date on Valentine’s… never! Record-breaker ako!
“So, I’m glad to be part of a Valentine offering that will offer people the feeling of love and I’m glad that I’m contributing to that.
“Sama-sama tayo, all of you, my Valentine… oh… iiyak ako!”
