Herbert Bautista eyes development of waste energy program on next term as QC mayor

Quezon Mayor Herbert Bautista describes upcoming elections as “relatively peaceful.”

Herbert Bautista was wearing the hat of an actor/ producer, when PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) had the chance to interview him last February 26, at the Himlayang Pilipino Park.

The man who also became famous in showbiz as Bistek began, “Siyempre, iba yung passion natin pag nasa harap na kamera.

“We hope na suportahan ng mga manonood itong pelikulang ginagawa namin nina Ogie Alcasid, Andrew E, saka Dennis Padilla, Joey Marquez.

“Tapos mga guests natin, mga super sikat sa soap opera-drama, di ba.”

Why did he choose comedy as genre for Raketeros?

“Magaan gawin, e. Saka masaya lang, hindi heavy… Tawa ka lang nang tawa habang ginagawa mo, alam mo yun… Hindi siya tense. Hindi siya stressful.”

When asked about the film’s title, Herbert answered, “Iba-iba kaming raket, e. Si Ogie, raket niya, kumakanta sa patay, sa kasal.

“Ako, cable guy.

“Si Dennis, magaling na lagarista.

“Si Andrew E, choir master na napagkamalang pari, yung ganun.

“So yun yung kanya-kanyang raket. Malinis naman yung raket.

“We hope… Hopefully itong mainstream [venture] e maging okay.”

The comedian/ politician laughed when asked if he’s expecting any award for his movie.

“Hindi… I doubt it. Hindi ko alam kung puwedeng… kung magkaka-award, pero we’re trying our best na maging maganda naman yung presentation.

“Magaling naman si kuya Randy Santiago as a director. No other… No other person in my heart na puwedeng gumawa ng ginagawa namin ngayon kundi si kuya Randy.”

ELECTIONS IN QC. Unlike most candidates who are now busy campaigning for their candidacy, Herbert looked quite relaxed.

“Most of us naman are unopposed and we thank the… first the Almighty Father for gracing us with blessing na tumakbo kami… may mga kalaban naman pero hindi ganun… walang party, e, independent kasi, e. Pero kung may party yun, baka malakas talaga sila.

“And then all the other— the vice mayor, yung mga congressman namin— hindi naman ganun ka-hotly contested yung mga puwesto.

“So we thank the Almighty Father for the blessing, and then, we also thank the people of Quezon City for believing and allowing us to serve again.”

PLANS FOR QC. He’s excited about his second term because he’s cooking up “big projects.”

”I’m thinking of waste energy program. I’m talking with, negotiating, discussing matters with MERALCO or Manny Pangilinan…

“And then merong transportation… talking with San Miguel Corporation, sina Ramon Ang, sina boss Danding Cojuangco.

“These things naman are going to happen anytime soon.

“We’re working on it very closely, intently.”

“EPAL” IN QC. PEP brought up the hard-to-miss posters of most politicians in the “City of Stars”

The mayor was quick to say, “Yeah, kaya binawasan ko na yung sa ‘kin e.”

Isn’t there any mandate preventing these public servants from installing too many “epal” posters?

“Meron, basta una, ang arrangement ‘wag lang sa national and major thoroughfares. So yung mga inner, puwede…

“Tapos bawal sila sa kable saka sa puno… kasi puno yun, e, papakuan mo yung puno e living fissure din yun, di ba, so yun… Kable because it may post danger to community.”

To better enforce these regulations, he underscored the need to “restrict” the locations.

Lastly, he said there’s nothing more he can ask from his constituents.

“Wala, pasalamat tayo. Wala tayong hihingin sa kanila, siguro, pasalamat tayo dahil maganda naman yung pagsuporta nila sa mga programa ng Quezon City.

“It’s not actually my program, it’s the program of the people of Quezon City.

“And para sa kanila naman talaga ‘to mula sa kanila.”
