“Heart sick” ang ginamit na salita ni Senator Mirian Defensor-Santiago upang ilarawan ng kanyang nararamdaman sa nangyayari ngayong gulo sa pagitan ng mga magulang ni Heart Evangelista at sa nobyo nitong si Senator Chiz Escudero.
Si Senador Miriam kasi ang nagpakilala kina Heart at Chiz kaya sinasabing siya ang “matchmaker” ng dalawa.
Sagot ng senador sa panayam sa kanya ng media ngayong araw, March 21, “I'm very heart sick because Heart, my surrogate daughter…
“I never had a daughter, you know, so I thought I could have a mother-daughter relationship with her.
“And I'm very, very disappointed—in fact, depressed—that things have turned out this way.
“So I’m just gonna distance myself from her from now on.
“Apparently, I may have certain professional abilities, but guidance and counselling is not one of them.”
LET GO OF HEART. Hiningan din ng advice si Senador Miriam para kay Heart.
Saad niya, “I am close not only to Heart but to her family, so I don't want to take sides.
“Basically, it's a cowardly position but this is a very highly, emotionally-charged situation.
“Plus this will impact not only the political fortune of Chiz, but even the marketability or market appeal of Heart.
“So it has many, many consequences for the two parties involved.
“Plus I know from personal experience, her family is extremely, extremely close-knit.
“And I know for a fact that the father, who is now seventy years old, is beset with many middle-aged diseases.”
Dagdag ni Senator Miriam, “The less I say, I think the better for the family.
“I think that they should just think all of these over, and maybe it's time for the family to let go of Heart because she's twenty-eight.
“She hasn't learned anything after all those boyfriends that the media has publicized... she'll never learn it.
“I guess maybe I told her mother I think the best thing to do is let go she has to learn her lessons her way.
“I'll just say that in the end, I'm glad I never had a daughter… ang hirap pala.”
CHIZ'S CANDIDACY. Bilang kapwa senador, may katotohanan ba ang mga paratang ng mga magulang ni Heart kay Chiz?
Sagot ng dating hukom, “While they're testifying according to their own personal experience—which is the best qualification for an eyewitness—remember that there is a law against hearsay testimony.
“The burden of proof is now on Chiz to prove otherwise.”
Tumatakbo muli ngayon si Chiz bilang senador para sa May 2013 elections. Sa palagay ba ni Senator Miriam ay makakaapekto sa kandidatura ni Chiz ang isyung kinasasangkutan nito?
Sagot niya, “Definitely it will depend on how the public sees him.
“They may look at him as manly, then they will probably vote in his favor because he probably lives up to the expectation of a macho man.
“But on the other hand, they can look on him as…”
Dagdag niya, “Amuin na lang niya yung mga magulang para walang problema.
“Kandidato siya, nakikipag-away siya...
“Why can’t he do that? That is our culture."
