The verbal beating Daniel Padilla recently received on Twitter got on his nerves. The bashing was directed at his mother, actress Karla Estrada, and Daniel’s onscreen partner, Kathryn Bernardo. Because of this, the Princess and I star unapologetically defended the women in his life regardless if it came off arrogant to the public. Daniel said, “Hindi naman ako yung masama, e. With Daniel Padilla’s rising star status, come the intrigues and the spiteful remarks on social networking sites, especially, Twitter.

While often nonchalant about what is said of him, Daniel did not hesitate to express his disappointment last night, April 4, at a press conference that announced his endorsement of Amigo pasta with Be Careful with My Heart star Richard Yap.

The bashing has apparently become too much. It hit Daniel’s nerves that the nasty statements on “tweetosphere” were directed at the young actor’s mother, actress Karla Estrada, and Daniel's loveteam partner, Kathryn Bernardo.

During the press conference proper, Daniel and Richard were asked if there is a pressure on their part as endorsers to keep their image, wholesome.

When it was his turn to answer, the Princess and I star boldly stated his sentiments regarding the negative tweets.

OFFENSIVE. In a more intimate interview with the group of entertainment writers, Daniel did not disclose what exactly the tweets said.

The actor took offense in the fact that the tweets were attacking the two women who matter most to him.

He reacted, “Mali, e!

Where does he think the bashers were coming from?

Daniel replied, “Wala nagpapapansin lang! Pang-bad trip lang.”

TALK WITH KARLA. When PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked Daniel if he and Karla discussed the matter, the young actor said that it was his mother who gave him the heads up about the tweets.

Daniel confirmed, “Siya yung nagsabi sa akin. At yun nga, parang bad trip, e.

He said he consoled Karla with a, “Ma, hayaan mo na. Ganyan talaga.”

Daniel said that his mother offers him advice on how to handle the intrigues. At the end of the day, however, he chooses how to act on it.

“ASTIG.” Daniel’s popularity is mostly due to the “astig” demeanor that he inherits from his father's side, the Padilla brood.

The public has recognized actor Robin Padilla’s antics in Daniel—something that the young Padilla himself cannot elaborate on.

Daniel, however, is certain that being straightforward is something that he got from the Padilla genes.

He said, “Yung pagiging straightforward sa mga salita.

At a, ganun po talaga, e.”

Does it not bother him that his attitude comes off arrogant to the public?

Daniel replied, “Oho.

Daniel stressed that he will not change who he is despite the criticism he is getting. He also is not one to be told what to do.

He relayed to his supporters, “Minahal nyo ako dati nang ganun ako.

FAME. Lastly, inquired if his popularity has gotten to him, Daniel brushed off the comment.

He reiterated that fame has not changed who he is.

“Hindi mo kailangan ramdamin. Tuloy ka lang. Trabaho lang nang trabaho.

“Isipin, araw-araw na trabaho mo parating first time. Yun lang yun.”
